For fans of video games, it doesn't get much bigger than this week which features multiple big-name releases. Destiny 2 kicked things off earlier in the week, finally launching for PC players, while Bethesda readiest Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus to launch alongside Nintendo's highly anticipated Super Mario Odyssey. As if that wasn't enough, Ubisoft is also set to deliver the ambitious Assassin's Creed Origins later this week after taking a year off from the formerly annual franchise.

Considering how massive Assassin's Creed Origins is, a fairly substantial day one patch is also being readied alongside the game's release. The patch, which ranges from 1.2GB to 1.4GB, includes a number of balance tweaks and improvements to the overall performance and stability. The controls for photo mode have also been reworked a bit allowing for greater player comfort.

Players who purchased the digital edition will automatically download the day one update as well, while physical disc players will get prompted during the initial install. Players are encouraged to verify that the version of the game is set to 1.02 before playing for the first time. Ubisoft reiterates that this update won't be the last, as another Title Update is being prepared for release sometime in early November as well. The big features coming in that update include 4K and Dolby Atmos support for the Xbox One X as well as HDR support for all platforms.

The tweaks to balance are no doubt important this time around as Ubisoft has previously confirmed that this latest entry in the now 10-year-old franchise is going to challenge players. A new RPG system adds loot and levels to the experience, meaning that players can and likely will run into situations where they're simply not strong enough to contend with certain enemies. Combat has also been reworked to prevent scenarios where players can actively kill 40 guards in rapid succession. Instead, strategy is now very important as each weapon handles differently meaning that things like player distance, loadouts, and enemy stats now matter more than ever.

Assassin's Creed Origins launches on October 27, 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
