December has been a big month for the Assassin’s Creed community. First, not only did Ubisoft announce the next major expansion for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla—Dawn of Ragnarok—but it also released the AC Valhalla and Odyssey Crossover Stories that saw Kassandra come face to face with Eivor. The AC Immersive Concert for 2022 was also announced, and to top it all off, December 21 is AC Day commemorating Desmond’s actions to end the Second Catastrophe.

Many in the AC Community are celebrating this unofficial fan holiday, much like Dragon Age fans celebrate D4 Day (December 4) or Mass Effect fans celebrate N7 Day (November 7). Developers sometimes sponsor or get involved in these holidays, as BioWare does with N7 Day, and it seems Ubisoft wanted to celebrate Assassin's Creed Day too.

Ubisoft India, seemingly for AC Day, announced that it is working on 60 FPS support for Assassin’s Creed Origins. This has been something fans have been clamoring for since August when AC Odyssey received its 60 FPS boost patch when playing via backward compatibility on PS5 and Xbox Series X. Ubisoft India did not have much more to share beyond this point, but it stands to reason that AC Origins will be held to the same standard as Odyssey.

Of course, some fans have taken this and ran with it. The timing has led some to believe that Ubisoft could be preparing another Crossover Stories release, where Kassandra appears in a new AC Origins quest. This would be welcome and it’s not entirely unfounded—Odyssey got a patch and got the content a few months later, AC Odyssey’s Crossover sees Kassandra in the Library of Alexandria, and much more. That doesn’t mean it’s a for sure thing, but fans clearly want Kassandra’s Crossover Stories to continue.

For now, fans will just have to ultimately wait and see what comes of all of this, but there is plenty on the horizon. The AC Origins 60 FPS patch, the Immersive Concert, Dawn of Ragnarok, and far more are plenty of reasons to keep an eye on the franchise in 2022. Not to mention, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s DLC may continue well after Dawn of Ragnarok, and it’s possible fans learn more about AC Infinity—though it remains to, again, to be seen.

Assassin’s Creed Origins is available for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
