It has been announced at Tokyo Game Show 2022 that Assassin's Creed Odyssey will be coming to Xbox Game Pass later today, September 15. As part of its pursuit of non-Western audiences, Xbox had announced that it would be making an appearance at this year's Tokyo Game Show, detailing that it would have one of the first major presentations at the event. As one of Japan's biggest gaming showcases, Xbox's appearance at Tokyo Game Show had many fans hyped to see what would be announced.
As an Xbox show, many were also expecting some big announcements for the company's subscription service, Xbox Game Pass. Initially unveiled back in 2017, Xbox Game Pass has consistently evolved since then, bringing new titles to its roster every month and increasing the amount of day one releases gamers can get their hands on at launch. Recently, Xbox Game Pass recently unveiled its Friends and Family plan, which allows up to five gamers to access its library through one payment method.
While many are excited for new games like Starfield and Redfall to come to Xbox Game Pass, the subscription service can still make waves by adding an older title to its library. Assassin's Creed Odyssey released first in 2018, taking fans on a journey in Ancient Greece, set even before Assassin's Creed Origins. Allowing exploration on foot, horseback, and through the oceans surrounding Greece, players taking on the role of either Cassandra or Alexios were in for an epic adventure. It was announced late into Xbox's Tokyo Game Show presentation that Assassin's Creed Odyssey will be coming to Game Pass, with fans able to access it later today, September 15.
Assassin's Creed Odyssey marks the second in Ubisoft's trilogy of Assassin's Creed games that took on more of an RPG focus. Rather than being specifically about stealth and assassinations, players in Assassin's Creed Odyssey have to build their character to meet the challenges of the world around them. This can lead to some interesting encounters and unique boss fights, including the mythical creatures players can take down in the game.
The inclusion of Assassin's Creed Odyssey in the Xbox Game Pass library isn't the first time a game from Ubisoft's iconic franchise has been brought to the subscription service. Assassin's Creed Origins was also available on Xbox Game Pass earlier this year, and this could indicate that all of Ubisoft's Ancient trilogy, which includes Assassin's Creed Valhalla, could be on their way to the subscription service soon enough.
Assassin's Creed Odyssey is available on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
