What makes Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey such an addicting experience is the sense of player agency. There are quite a few ways to build one's character, with tons of gear to back it up. Fans can be a tanky, ultra-strong Spartan warrior, or they can just be quick and agile. Players can even stay true to the assassin roots and hide in the shadows. Every type of playstyle can work.

Then there are the items that just make some of the best builds even more overpowered. These potent weapons and gear can essentially turn on easy mode, even if fans are playing on Nightmare difficulty. Whether an unseen assassin who never gets caught, or a fierce warrior who never gets a scratch on them, these items are what help players achieve that one way or another. Here are the weapons and other add-ons that make Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey much easier.

Each item is "legendary" status unless otherwise specified.

Updated May 30, 2023 by Stephen LaGioia: Even after the release of the massive Valhalla, Assassin's Creed Odyssey remains one of the most epic and ambitious titles in the series to date. The game's vast lineup of weapons, armor, engravings, and other items is representative of this historical fiction adventure at large.

Revisiting this ARPG years later, it's easy to forget just how many weapons, armor, and engravings populate Ancient Greece, most of which come in countless variants. It can be especially overwhelming after being weened on the more streamlined, focused weapon and armor system in Valhalla. As such, this list highlights more of the best weapons and armor in Odyssey.

15 Arachne's Stingers

AC Odyssey Arachne's Stingers inventory screen

Inspired by a woman-turned-spider with the same name, Arachne's Stingers fittingly come laced with poison, as well as swift, potent damage. These legendary daggers, which are obtained by slaying a Mercenary with "The Weaver" title, are great for speedy assassins who still wish to pack a punch.

Even before enhancing the weapons with Engravings, the Stingers provide a 25 percent boost in Assassin Damage and a solid 40 percent poison damage. Couple this with poison abilities to really chip away at opponents with major damage over time.

14 Polyphemos Cyclops Bludgeon

AC Odyssey Polyphemos Cyclops Bludgeon inventory screen

As one might expect from its name, this two-handed beast can be had by slaying the Cyclops beast called Brontes, where it's kept in a vault on the Isle of Thisvi. Legend has it that only the immortal can withstand a blow from this bludgeon and survive to tell the tale.

Beyond just DPS prowess, this weapon boosts Assassin damage and damage on elites/bosses by 25 percent, as well as an added 30 with heavy-bladed weapons. This makes a great choice when opting for those tougher foes with an assassin build.

13 Spartan War Hero Armor Set

AC Odyssey Spartan Hero armor set wearing on mountain during sunset

Initially worn by the Peloponnesian League Cult of Kosmos, players can rightfully claim this Spartan armor set for themselves upon defeating these members and flaunt their Spartan might. Even individually, most of these pieces offer ample boosts to warrior damage, with some boosting criticals.

When worn as a set, an additional 15 percent damage to warrior abilities is given. These traits make this armor a brawler's perfect companion, especially when clashing with Athenian soldiers or in the arena.

12 Hermes' Kerukeion

AC Odyssey Hermes Kerukeion spear inventory screen

Despite its seemingly blunt nature, this staff, gifted by the god Apollo to Hermes, can bash targets for loads of damage, both initially and over time. Fans of the assassin build and poison infliction will want to give this one a look, as the Kerukeion yields a 25 percent boost to assassin damage, 40 to poison, and an added 15 poison damage and buildup.

To obtain this unique weapon, finish off the quests given by Hippokrates in Boetia, concluding with "Let My Patients Go."

11 Fanged Bow

Assassins Creed Odyssey fanged bow splash shot

While much of Odyssey stresses close-range combat and behind-the-back stealth, bows can be quite effective if used by practiced hands. One of the most notable is the Fanged Bow, which bites into its targets for ample damage and a poison afterbite. This legendary bow is fittingly inspired by venomous serpents feared by many in ancient Greece.

Strong and sharp, this bow is great for assassin builds, as it boosts assassin damage by 25 percent and, for good measure, poison by 40. Not only this, but it takes it upon itself to turn basic arrows into poisonous ones. It can be unearthed deep in the Cave of Mt. Zas on Naxos Island.

10 Poseidon’s Trident

Assassin's Creed Odyssey Poseidon's Trident

Compared to the other items on this list, this weapon doesn’t seem that wild. However, doing all of those underwater locations can become quite a chore. Not only can the treasure be tough to find in underwater wreckage, but players constantly need to worry about running out of breath. Poseidon’s Trident is the best solution to this problem.

As a trident, it can do a decent amount of damage, but the real bonus is allowing players to breathe underwater. No longer do players need to keep a sharp eye on that breath meter. Just enjoy a nice swim underwater looking for buried treasure. Just keep an eye out for sharks. To get this treasure of a trident, seek out an unmarked island in far Northeast Greece. It's between the Chios island and the islands of Samos.

9 Pride Of The Lion

Assassin's Creed Odyssey Pride Of Lion

Rush Assassination is a favorite ability among stealth players in Odyssey. After all, it allows one to teleport and assassinate up to four enemies within a few seconds. On its own, it’s already a powerful skill. Yet with the Pride Of The Lion sword, there is an engraving that permits players to chain Rush Assassination one more time, potentially leading to taking out five enemies at once.

The only downside of this weapon is that it can only be obtained in the Legacy Of The First Blade DLC, upon finishing the story mission 'Shadow of a Legend'. Still, it will make stealthy situations that much faster.

8 Minotaur’s Labrys

Assassin's Creed Odyssey Minotaur's Labrys

Overpowered abilities are a powerful but costly attack. When players first unlock this skill, it will cost three Adrenaline Bars once it’s activated. With only eight Adrenaline Bars by the end of the game, this means players can only activate the Overpowered ability two times with one full bar.

However, once players defeat the Minotaur mythical boss fight, they'll obtain the Minotaur’s Labrys Axe. This ax’s engraving brings down the cost of Adrenaline by one bar when using Overpowered abilities. This means one can now activate four times in one bar, granting a major amount of damage within a short period.

7 Pirate Armor Set

Assassin's Creed Odyssey Pirate Set

For players who want to stay in the shadows and pick off every enemy silently, the Legendary Pirate Armor Set is the best one to wear. Each of the armor pieces generally increases the following stats: Crit Chance, Critical Hit Damage, and Assassin Damage.

The bonus is that wearing the entire set grants a 50 percent damage increase on Assassin Abilities. Combining that with the stat boosts, one can easily take out most enemies with assassinations, as well as take out most (if not all) of a mercenary’s health when using Critical Assassination.

Fittingly, this armor is obtained by sailing out to the seas below Thera and Anaphi, above Messara, and slaying the Octopus. The gauntlets, waistband, and treads can be nabbed by defeating Asterion (north of Andros), Sokos (Haval Conquest Battle in the Obsidian Islands), and The Mytilenian Shark (South of Samos), respectively.

6 Dagger Of Kronus

Assassin's Creed Odyssey Dagger Of Kronus

The Legendary Dagger Of Kronus can take a long time to get depending on one's choices in the “Ashes to Ashes” main quest. Killing the Cultist, Chrysis grants the Dagger Of Kronus. This is a very useful dagger that can be utilized for both stealth and combat players. The main perk this weapon offers is that it gives a 40 percent damage increase when attacking from behind.

This is especially useful for stealth since players will frequently be sneaking up behind enemies, but it’s also great for combat if one's quick enough to dodge. Pairing this with the Slow Time ability makes it especially deadly. Slay Nyx the Shadow to get this potent dagger. She can be found to the southeast of the statue of Athena in Greater Athens, Attika.

5 Immortal Armor Set

Assassin's Creed Odyssey Immortal Set

Second chances are always nice, which is what the Legendary Immortal Armor Set does. Appropriately named, this set can pretty much make one immortal depending on how well players pace themselves in combat. After it was buffed, the full armor set perk it grants is basically a full revive after dying, with the catch being that it has a one-minute cooldown.

RELATED: Ranked: Most Powerful Weapons In Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Most fights typically don’t last longer than a minute, unless it's a boss fight. The nice thing is that players can essentially get two chances against a boss fight every time it's restarted. To get ahold of this coveted set, seek out all five underlings of the Worshippers of the Bloodline Cult of Kosmos branch.

4 Demigod Armor Set

Assassin's Creed Odyssey Demigod Set

For players wanting to have a “jack of all trades” build, then wearing the Demigod Armor Set is the best option. While each armor piece’s stat generally favors Warrior damage, the full set perk gives a 30 percent damage boost for all abilities, which includes Assassin and Hunter.

While one could get better results if specialized, this set makes it much more convenient to be well-off in any situation. Players won’t need to constantly change their loadout and respec, which can always be tedious. Most of this set can be obtained after clashing with Deimos in Episode 9. The Circlet, however, can be had after finishing the quest 'A Fresh Start' and speaking with Aspasia within the Sanctuary of Delphi.

3 Harpe Of Perseus

Assassin's Creed Odyssey Harpe of Perseus

Abilities are crucial, regardless of how good one's build is. Most of the game’s best abilities will end up having a cooldown, however. As such, players will want to defeat Medusa and obtain the Legendary Harpe of Perseus. Having this weapon equipped gives 25 percent less cooldown time for abilities.

RELATED: Assassin’s Creed Odyssey: The Most Important Choices You’ll Have To Make In The Game

This may not sound like much, but it is noticeable when using powerful abilities like Slow Time and Second Wind that have much longer cooldowns. Even better, the ones with less cooldown time come by even faster, letting one spam them like mad.

2 Master Artemis Armor Set

Assassin's Creed Odyssey Master Artemis

The Legendary Master Artemis armor set is the best set for Hunter players. Every piece grants the player Hunter damage, with others giving extra buffs like Headshot Damage and Bow Charging Speed. The bonus is that if players have the full set equipped, they get an extra 50 percent damage boost on all their Hunter abilities.

Certain abilities like Devastating Shot and Predator Shot already can do massive amounts of damage. An automatic 50 percent damage increase just becomes overkill. If one prefers to just pick off enemies easily from a distance, then this is the set to opt for. To get this set, visit the Daughters of Artemis for their questline, at the Temple of Artemis in the middle of the Phokis region.

1 Falx Of Olympos Spear

Assassin's Creed Odyssey Falx Of Olympos

Depending on what playstyle is chosen, the Falx Of Olympos spear can make the game a cakewalk or a more challenging experience. This spear has a very unique engraving that grants the a whopping 100 percent damage increase, but with their health capped at only 25 percent, essentially turning Alexios/Kassandra into a glass cannon. For stealth and ranged players, this is a must-have.

When playing in stealth or ranged, it's best to try and avoid close combat altogether, so that getting struck is unlikely. Due to this, this spear’s engraving can make later, more difficult playthroughs pretty easy. The spear can be obtained via chest within the underwater Palace of Amphitrite in the Volcanic Islands.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey is currently available on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch.
