The first-ever live event for Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Odyssey has been canceled due to unspecified technical issues. The event was supposed to go live sometime this week, which will allow players level 30 and above to embark on limited-time quests, gather rare and exclusive loot, and earn Epic and Legendary rewards.

Ubisoft has been a tad bit creative when it announced the cancellation of the event via Twitter stating that the character Damais bailed at the last minute as “he was intimidated by the idea of facing the misthios. He’ll give you a fair fight as soon as we tracked him down.” While this week’s event for Assassin's Creed Odyssey has now been canceled, Ubisoft promised that next week’s scheduled event would continue as planned, and players can expect for an epic ship arriving in the Aegean Sea on October 23.

While the specific technical mishap that prompted Ubisoft to cancel the inaugural live event for Assassin's Creed Odyssey wasn't revealed, the game recently suffered from stability issues that led to it crashing to dashboard on both the PS4 and Xbox One after update 1.0.3. The studio assured players that it would release the 1.0.5 update on both consoles to address the stability issue.

Previously, Ubisoft announced that Odyssey would see some of the biggest and most ambitious post-release content in the history of the franchise, which began with a Season Pass that is already available for $39.99 and will give players access to two additional story-arcs that will be released progressively for an extended period of time. This extra content will be perfect for players who have already beaten the primary campaign and are looking to continue their adventure in Odyssey.

Last week, Ubisoft was proud to announce that Assassin’s Creed Odyssey had the best launch sales in the history of the series. While no exact figures were released, the studio said that Odyssey outperformed the launch figures of some of its predecessors, including Origins, Syndicate, and Unity.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is now available for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
