With E3 2018 beginning today, many gamers are excited to see what the gaming convention has in store. Ubisoft has already revealed it will be unveiling Assassin's Creed Odyssey with a teaser trailer displaying a powerful Spartan kick, but the first details of the action-adventure game have managed to leak ahead of time.
PlayStation users quickly discovered a "New Events" notification in the store, which revealed the game description for Assassin's Creed: Odyssey. This isn't the first leak for Ubisoft, however, as the game's title was officially revealed via a piece of merchandise, but considering the company's press conference takes place Monday, it may be the last.
The description promises "control of your destiny" and "an epic odyssey" that may suggest that the game is doubling down on the RPG elements introduced in the franchise's previous installment, Assassin's Creed Origins. Moreover, the protagonist's journey will see him transition from a discarded mercenary to a full-fledged Spartan hero (and presumably an Assassin.) Check out a screenshot of the leak below:
With the rumors of seafaring akin to Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, it'll be interesting to see if the protagonist doesn't become an Assassin until late in the game, similar to the manner in which Edward Kenway comes to the Creed. Moreover, while many fans were expecting or wanting a Viking-inspired Norse game in the form of Assassin's Creed Ragnarok or a game located in Japan, these rumors are effectively squashed, though these ideas shouldn't be rule out for future installments.
Regardless, provided there are no more leaks, fans of the long-running franchise will get their next glimpse of the latest installment at E3. Ubisoft's press conference is slated for Monday, June 11, at 1 PM PT / 4 PM ET / 9 PM BST. Check out the full E3 2018 press conference schedule here.
