Assassin's Creed Odyssey is full of romantic sidequests that players can pursue, but not all of them are truly worth pursuing. Of course, those who have beaten AC: Odyssey can pursue romance as a way to gain additional XP and while completing other endgame events, but those who would prefer to prioritize may want to know which storylines are the best and which are the worst.

It's worth adding that, while the romance options in Assassin's Creed Odyssey are a nice feature, it's subpar compared to many games with romantic options. It's little more than just side stories that players can enjoy, as none of them really change or have any influence in the way the game turns out, but that doesn't make them any less enjoyable than other sidequests. Regardless, here are the 5 best and worst romances in AC: Odyssey.

10 Worst: Xenia

ac odyssey flirting with xenia

The idea of romancing a pirate sounds fantastic and fits into the greek world easily, but the implementation leaves much to be desired. While most romance storylines require a number of RPG-like quests, Xenia's quests revolve around receiving a treasure map, finding it, and returning it to her. It is so formulaic and repetitive that finishing the storyline often seems like an afterthought.

9 Best: Diona

ac odyssey kassandra diona eritha

This quest ties into eliminating the cultists throughout Greece, but also adds the hilarity of romancing someone who has an evil twin. The cliche may be old hat, but it worked well here, adding a nice level of hilarity while hunting cultists in Assassin's Creed Odyssey.

8 Worst: Kosta

ac odyssey romance alexios kosta

Kosta's romance option is mostly unremarkable, as it is a short quest tied to some flowers and "a spear," double entendre intended. Assassin's Creed Odyssey fans who have completed his romance have likely forgotten it, and those who haven't aren't really missing anything.

7 Best: Mikkos

Decisions matter in Mikkos' storyline, as a single misstep can see him dead by the end, but his storyline has a fine balance of romance and the "when in Greece" attitude. At one point, Mikkos will offer players the choice of sleeping with just him, him and another woman, him and another man, or him and both of the other two. Then, as long as he lives, there is a heartfelt moment that occurs between the two at the completing of the Assassin's Creed Odyssey quest.

6 Worst: Roxana

ac odyssey alexios roxana

The biggest issue with Roxana's storyline is how short and choppy it is, as the first three quests title practically say it all: "Sparring with Roxana, Archery Practice, Foot Race." Joining her in the final quest, Retribution, doesn't add much to the romance, either.

5 Best: Alkibiades

First met during a half-naked group party (there was a goat), Alkibiades will continue to pop up throughout the story, adding a level of comedy and reoccurring romance that players just can't seemingly and laughingly escape. However, for Alkibiades to be romanceable throughout the Assassin's Creed Odyssey story, he must be flirted with when he is first met.

4 Worst: Natakas or Neema

ac odyssey natakas

The romance with Natakas (if playing as Kassandra) or Neema (if playing as Alexios) may actually be one of the better romantic storylines...if players want it. Because it removes player agency, it's hard to say it qualifies as a good romance, though. Assassin's Creed Odyssey sold itself as a game of choice, with group sex, references to goats, and overall strange predicaments all being a possibility, but then the second episode Shadow Heritage of the first major DLC forces players into a heterosexual relationship that was painted as "growing up." Ubisoft has done its best to patch out the more restraining details, but even though procreation is required for the overarching AC storyline, it probably would have been better to leave that up in the air.

3 Best: Kyra or Thaletas

Unlike Neema and Natakas, players have a choice in pursuing either Kyra or Thaletas in an intriguing storyline that takes place on the Silver Islands. The romance will keep players busy and intrigued for a considerable amount of time, as well as have multiple ways to go. Either way, when it comes to romancing, players will have to choose Kyra or Thaletas in Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Also unlike Neema and Natakas, Kyra or Thaletas will go for either Kassandra or Alexios (like every other romance).

2 Worst: Auxesia

ac odyssey age is just a number quest

Auxesia's romance in Assassin's Creed Odyssey is by far the most awkward, perhaps more so than the occasional goat that appears in romantic sidequests and unbefitting for one of the top 10 games of 2018. After collecting some ingredients that include a bear scrotum and a deer tongue, players can choose to spare the husband and offer themselves to sate Auxesia's lust in the appropriately titled quest, Age is Just a Number.

1 Best: Daphnae

ac daphnae goddess of the hunt

Daphnae's storyline begins around level 13 for the player and doesn't finish until level 45. Players will be tasked with hunting down various legendary animals and will eventually receive a small romantic scene. However, this romance is also the most heart-breaking, as regardless of choice, it does not end on a happy note for either the PC or Daphnae in Assassin's Creed Odyssey.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Stadia version also currently in development.
