Ubisoft is well known for constantly producing high-quality games across a variety of franchises. Fans can reasonably expect new releases in the Far Cry, Assassin's Creed, and other series every year or two at Ubisoft's current pacing. That can at times mean that it's difficult to get excited about certain games, as they're simply the "next Assassin's Creed." However, sometimes specific Ubisoft developers are revealed to be associated with certain projects, giving them identity. Such is the case with an upcoming mystery project from Ubisoft headed by Damien Kieken.

Kieken is a Ubisoft director with a lot of experience. His most recent role was as game director for For Honor, but prior to that he was the game director of the Assassin's Creed franchise's multiplayer. That includes Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, Assassin's Creed Revelations, Assassin's Creed 3, and Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, as well as the entire Assassin's Creed multiplayer direction overall.

As should be clear, Kieken is Ubisoft's go-to multiplayer lead. So it's understandable that after leaving Assassin's Creed behind, he took on For Honor. Kieken then departed For Honor in early 2019, too, to join Ubisoft's Annecy studio. Today, Kieken confirmed what many expected, that he's already working on a new Ubisoft project, once again as game director.

In a confirmation that he's leading a new project, Kieken's Twitter post reads, "#4games I'm the most proud of working on as Game Dir (the last one being the very exciting thing I'm working on)." The text is followed by four images, with the fourth being a generic Ubisoft logo. Whatever Kieken is working on, it remains a secret.

Kieken isn't up for dropping hints about the new project, however; all that's known is that it's new and unannounced. That, at the very least, takes Skull & Bones out of the picture, but it's otherwise up to fans to speculate. Given Kieken's history, a multiplayer game seems likely, and Ubisoft Annecy is best known for working on The Division franchise, Steep, and Ghost Recon Wildlands. In other words, it's also known for multiplayer. The combining of multiplayer prowess definitely hints at some exciting potential.

Ubisoft clearly isn't ready to reveal whatever Kieken's project might be. If Kieken did join the team early in 2019, the game's only just over a year old and still has some ways to go, but fans of multiplayer Ubisoft games should definitely keep their eyes open for future announcements.
