For months now, rumors have been swirling around Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed franchise, with reputable insiders indicating that a new game in the series is on the way. Earlier today, the new Assassin's Creed game leaked online, revealing its title to be Assassin's Creed Mirage, showing some images, and confirming its pre-order bonuses. Instead of ignoring the leaks like most companies would, Ubisoft has decided to get ahead of things and officially announce Assassin's Creed Mirage.

Ubisoft announced Assassin's Creed Mirage with a social media post that included some key art for the game and confirmed exactly when fans will get to see more of it. The full Assassin's Creed Mirage reveal is going to take place at the next Ubisoft Forward event, scheduled for September 10 at 12pm PT. At minimum, this means Assassin's Creed fans can expect a proper trailer for Assassin's Creed Mirage, though it's possible a release date will be revealed too, especially since one of the pre-order bonuses have already leaked online.

According to the leaked information, Assassin's Creed Mirage will have a bonus mission that players can only access if they pre-order the game. The Assassin's Creed Mirage pre-order bonus mission is called The Forty Thieves Quest, but not much is known about it beyond that. Notably, The Forty Thieves Quest is a reference to an Iraqi folktale, solidifying the previous reports about Assassin's Creed Mirage's setting.

Previously, it was leaked that Assassin's Creed Mirage will take place in Baghdad, Iraq. The Assassin's Creed Mirage protagonist is believed to be Basim, who previously appeared in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, though that has yet to be confirmed at the time of this writing. Since the other leaked information about Assassin's Creed Mirage has proven to be accurate, though, there is little reason to doubt the reports.

Assassin's Creed fans will hopefully get confirmation about Basim's involvement in Assassin's Creed Mirage at the Ubisoft Forward. A release date announcement would also be nice, though fans shouldn't hold their breath that they will get to play the game this year. Ubisoft has previously indicated that a game planned for the 2022 holiday season has since been pushed back to 2023, and the same insiders that leaked the other info about the game have said that the delayed project was indeed Assassin's Creed Mirage. Fans will just have to tune in to the Ubisoft Forward event on September 10 to find out more.

Assassin's Creed Mirage is in development.
