The Assassin's Creed franchise has taken fans to time periods and locations all over the world, from Italy during the renaissance to Ancient Egypt to colonial America and more. However, there's consistently been one location in particular that fans of the Assassin's Creed franchise have wanted to see that has yet to be explored in a main series game, and that's feudal Japan. Ubisoft has not announced any plans to make an Assassin's Creed game set in Japan, but a newly released video gives fans an idea of what such a game might be like.

YouTuber TeaserPlay uploaded a video that shows what an Assassin's Creed game set in 1333 Japan would be like, built using Unreal Engine 5. The idea of the video is simple, and that is show what an Assassin's Creed game could look like when using next-generation graphics and tools like Unreal Engine 5's nanite and lumen features. The video shows an assassin exploring city streets, perching on rooftops, and caps off with a shot of a vast, mountainous landscape.

While only a concept video, it does make an effort to mimic the HUD of an Assassin's Creed game. The bottom right-hand corner has icons for the unnamed Assassin's Creed assassin to perform various functions, while their health bar is located on the opposite side of the screen. The top of the screen includes a compass with various icons on it, pointing the assassin to missions and side content. It's an impressive video, and it may make fans even hungrier for a main series Assassin's Creed game set in Japan.

The title of the video is a nod to the Assassin's Creed Infinity project that was announced by Ubisoft last year. While there aren't a lot of official details to go by, we do know that Assassin's Creed Infinity will be a live-service game that will focus on multiple time periods. It's certainly within the realm of possibility that Assassin's Creed Infinity could be the game that takes players to feudal Japan, but that remains to be seen.

Assassin's Creed Infinity isn't the only new Assassin's Creed game that's in the works. Reports indicate that a new main series game called Assassin's Creed Rift is also in development. Assassin's Creed Rift is reportedly going to be smaller in scale than the other recent main series entries and in some ways, will be a return to the franchise's roots by returning the focus to stealth action over RPG elements. It will supposedly be about Basim Ibn Ishaq and serve as a prequel to Assassin's Creed Valhalla, but fans will have to wait for Ubisoft to share more information to be sure.
