There’s little doubt many are still confused as to what shape or form Assassin’s Creed Infinity will take, as outside of being described as an evolving world with multiple settings inspired by the successes of Fortnite and GTA Online, next to nothing is officially known. Ubisoft did say AC Infinity wasn’t going to be free-to-play, but that doesn’t really add much substance.

Leaks about it too shouldn’t really be trusted, as it’s publicly known to be in the earliest stages of development. However, one leaker known as Smooth-Earth2875 recently posted some details about the game, claiming to have inside knowledge about the development thus far of Assassin’s Creed Infinity. They submitted proof of their claims to the Subreddit’s mods, who said that it is fakeable but would take a lot more than what the average fake leaker would typically do to fake.

As such, it should be taken with a grain of salt, but there’s some possibility there’s some truth in their claims, which made very clear before verification that not everything is set in stone. One of the claims was interesting: Assassin’s Creed Infinity would feature classic “remakes” alongside its new stories. And this poses the question of what games deserve these “remakes” of sorts.

Assassin’s Creed Infinity: Classic AC Remakes

What should be clear is that this doesn’t mean full game-length remakes in all likelihood. More likely, these games will be adapted into AC Infinity’s supposed Hitman 3-style approach, where players can relive these classic moments with updated graphics and etc. Essentially, it sounds like a retelling in a new style.

Obviously, games like the OG Assassin’s Creed would benefit from this, but alongside other classics, this approach could be used to bring often-discarded characters to the forefront. “Remaking” AC Liberation in Infinity, for example, would be a good approach for Aveline, while Chronicles characters like Arbaaz Mir, Nikolai Orelov, and Shao Jun could be treated less like spin-off characters. The Ezio Trilogy would be iffy for Ubisoft to adapt, but AC3 and a few others would benefit from this too. Which games get this treatment remains in the air, but perhaps one of its more recent ones could benefit from a “retelling" of sorts.

Assassin’s Creed Infinity Can Correct AC Origins’ Greatest Flaw

Aya Assassin's Creed Origins

Assassin’s Creed Origins was a big change for the franchise, introducing the RPG elements for the first real time. Yet, it’s no secret that Origins was changed a lot more than normal during development, with Aya—co-founder and figurehead as Amunet of the Hidden Ones—getting minimized more and more as the development would go on. She was supposed to play a bigger role, and that’s apparent in the way her character comes in and out, has mini-gameplay segments, and overall feels detached from the death of her son.

A ”remake” of AC Origins could show more of Aya’s side during these events and maybe even more of what follows, giving her key moments that she missed, exploring her assassinations of characters like Actaeon and Ktesos, and more. It could go further than that, but if AC Infinity features this style of remake/potential retellings, it’s the perfect chance to give some characters their time in the sun. Many more deserve it too, but leading with Aya would be a choice on Ubisoft’s behalf.

Assassin’s Creed Infinity is in development.
