While Ubisoft may be working on a new Assassin's Creed game with the rumored Assassin's Creed Ragnarok, there are other Assassin's Creed-related things being developed as well. One such product includes a new audiobook known as Assassin's Creed: Gold.

The information comes from the official Twitter page for Assassin's Creed, which tweeted the announcement on November 19. The tweet stated that Assassin's Creed: Gold will be arriving on Audible as the series' first audio drama in the Spring of 2020.

The audiobook's listing on Audible provides a summary for it. The main character will apparently be Aliyah Kahn, who is a "card shark and hustler." While she makes a living through "smarts and street scams," she eventually becomes an Assassin as a result of losing to and having to repay a man named Gavin Banks.

In the process of Aliyah's training to be an Assassin, Banks informs her of the familiar story of the long feud that has existed between the Templars and the Assassins, "imploring her to help him decode a secret message inscribed on an illegal form of currency during the Great Recoinage of 1696." The summary also provides the cast behind the characters' voices and states that there will be appearances from historical figures like Isaac Newton. The audiobook can be pre-ordered for $21.81 before shipping and tax.

While some fans are likely to question the decision to make an audiobook for the Assassin's Creed franchise, others might be yearning for a fresh take on it. The previous iteration, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, was a well-received hit with fans and critics alike, with a host of memorable quotes and praised gameplay systems. However, instead of consecutive years of new Assassin's Creed games, an audiobook will be an interesting way to experience Assassin's Creed.

2020's Assassin's Creed game has a chance to improve upon the mechanics established by Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Just as Assassin's Creed Odyssey improved upon the gameplay systems of Assassin's Creed Origins, so can the alleged Viking-themed 2020 Assassin's Creed iteration. Until then, however, fans can go ahead and listen to the series' first audiobook coming this Spring.

Assassin's Creed: Gold will release in Spring 2020.
