Details regarding four unannounced Assassin's Creed projects have leaked, according to a recent report. Ubisoft currently has multiple major Assassin's Creed projects in development that have already been announced, as the publisher seeks to return to annual releases in the franchise. Yet those projects may be just the start of Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed plans, with the leaked games hinting at a much more diverse range of experiences being offered as part of the franchise.In September 2022, Ubisoft announced four new Assassin's Creed games being in development. Assassin's Creed Mirage is tentatively planned for release in 2023 and is seen as a shorter, smaller return for the franchise. The other projects are referred to as Codename Red, Codename Hexe, and Codename Jade, set in feudal Japan, the Holy Roman Empire, and ancient China, respectively. The first two games make up Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed Infinity effort, while Jade is a mobile game.A new report from Insider Gaming claims that Ubisoft studios have made a new series of pitches for what will be Assassin's Creed next wave of releases - three of these being "full-fledged" Assassin's Creed releases. Those three projects are Ubisoft Chengdu's Project Raid, a 4-player co-op PvE game, Ubisoft Sofia's Project Nebula, based in India, the Aztec Empire, and the Mediterranean, and Ubisoft Annecy's Project Echoes, a multiplayer game based on Ubisoft's Scalar cloud technology.
The fourth leaked project from Insider Gaming's report is actually a sequel to another unannounced Assassin's Creed game. Project Nexus is an Assassin's Creed VR game said to be planned for an announcement at E3 this year. The fourth game is said to be Project Nexus 2, another VR project.
In all, that brings the number of known Assassin's Creed projects up to ten. There's Mirage, Red, Hexe, and Jade, which Ubisoft announced last December. Then there's the multiplayer Assassin's Creed game Invictus that Ubisoft also announced in 2021. Nexus, the VR game, is set to be announced soon. Then there are these four newly leaked projects, Nexus 2, Raid, Nebula, and Echoes.
One source for this latest round of Assassin's Creed leaks says that Ubisoft is "going all in" on the franchise, as well as other major franchises. But it should also be made clear these new Assassin's Creed projects are referenced only as "pitches." Ubisoft isn't necessarily dedicated to this direction, and the report itself may not even be accurate in the first place. Still, given Ubisoft's past push for annual Assassin's Creed releases and the success it had then, it wouldn't be surprising to see it happen again.
