Twitch is one of the most popular platforms for live streaming. Streamers from all backgrounds use the company to market the content they produce. Unfortunately, while the platform has created the opportunity for some people to make a living streaming, it has come under fire for failing to crack down on harassment against certain members of the community. In an attempt to force the company to act on the issue, a number of streamers have decided to boycott the service for a day. However, not every streamer believes that the movement will work, as popular World of Warcraft streamer Asmongold has revealed that he has decided not to participate.

Known for his live streams on Twitch along with his YouTube content, Asmongold plays MMO-style games. When live, he often can be found playing games such as World of Warcraft and recently Final Fantasy 14. Furthermore, he is not afraid to express his opinions on current topics, such as when he recently criticized the upcoming New World following its closed beta. One of the most popular figures in the MMO genre, his decision to not join the upcoming Twitch movement is significant.

During a recent live stream on August 22, Asmongold explained to viewers that he was not going to participate in the upcoming #ADayOffTwitch movement. The streamer pointed out that he was in favor of what the movement stood for, but he felt that it wasn’t big enough to gain traction. While a number of Twitch streamers plan to boycott the platform in the coming days, most of the larger streamers on Twitch are not participating.

asmongold wants to quit streaming

According to Asmongold, the movement needs popular streamers in order to be successful. “You can’t get a bunch of 20 [small streamers] together and think you’re going to do anything," he commented. After receiving the obvious question of why he didn't become the first high-profile streamer to join the movement, he said that he was tired of taking flack from people each time he tried to start something. It is worth noting that Asmongold said that he would consider joining the movement if other popular streamers get involved.

The WoW streamer has been in the news a lot recently. A few days ago, Asmongold said that he wanted to quit streaming. According to the streamer, he had been feeling burnt out from the job. He said that he liked to have fun, but commented that the Twitch community had made that difficult. If things continue as they are going, he revealed that he’s likely to call it quits.

It will be interesting to see if Asmongold decides to participate in the impending strike if more high-profile streamers join the movement. Nevertheless, time is running out for others to get involved as the strike planned by the #ADayOffTwitch movement is on September 1.
