Twitch streamers tend to jump between games with relative frequency. These jumps are typically self-explanatory, due to reasons like a new game launching, an old game overstaying its welcome, or Twitch streamers hunting a new fad. Asmongold, known for his MMO streaming on Twitch, is always willing to discuss the reasons why he stops playing one game and starts another. In a recent broadcast, Asmongold did just that, telling his viewers why he stopped playing the MMO Black Desert Online some time ago.

Black Desert Online launched in the west in 2016, and Asmongold took the opportunity to try it out while also continuing to stream World of Warcraft, as it was his bread and butter. Asmongold explains that he even joined a "sweaty" guild named Gravity, a guild that took the game very seriously and played competitively. Asmongold explains that this is what he looks for in an MMO, but in this specific circumstance, it forced him to make a difficult decision.

The issue was that Asmongold was being pulled in too many directions at once. His Black Desert Online guild wanted him to be dedicated to it, doing Sieges and practicing for Sieges, among other important tasks for a high-end competitive player. Asmongold says that balancing Black Desert Online with his other obligations, like streaming and playing World of Warcraft, was "exhausting" and too much. As a result, he quit.

Asmongold also addressed the possibility of just playing Black Desert Online casually, rather than quitting the game entirely. But the Twitch streamer explained that he doesn't do that. If he's playing something he wants to go all in, and if he can't go all in then he'd rather quit. That's why Asmongold ultimately stepped away from Black Desert Online, rather than playing the game casually when he wasn't focused on World of Warcraft.

There were likely other contributing factors to Asmongold quitting Black Desert Online that he didn't address. If Black Desert Online was more popular than World of Warcraft on Twitch, Asmongold would likely have been persuaded to stick with the game. Asmongold also didn't mention whether he actually enjoyed Black Desert Online or not.

Regardless, Asmongold's willingness to share his thoughts on all of the games he plays remains one of his strengths as a Twitch streamer. His candidness and his crassness may be offputting to some, but it is why Asmongold's audience follows him. His more recent thoughts on World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy 14 are also good examples of this.

Black Desert Online is available now on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and mobile devices.
