Ash Ketchum has caught a lot of Pokemon over the years. He's been to eight different regions, revisited some of those regions, and has totaled almost 60 different species of Pokemon in that time. "Different species" is specified there, as he has caught several dozen Tauros on accident.

All those Pokemon obviously mean that Ash has an arsenal of different types and fighting styles at his disposal for whatever challenge comes his way. That also means that he has several different personalities in his party too. Pokemon of the same species aren't identical in every way; there are different personalities and natures that can manifest in Pokemon much like human beings. That brings us to today's topic: which of Ash's Pokemon are you based on your Zodiac sign?

12 AQUARIUS: Greninja

Ash-Greninja

The Aquarius Sign is known for its independence and caring nature balanced by emotional restraint that ends in often spectacular emotional outbursts.

For this sign, Ash's Greninja is the perfect choice. While Froakie was a bit of a rogue, but it became loyal to Ash over time and liked to look after the other Pokemon after evolving into Frogadier and Greninja. As Greninja, it became a powerhouse of Ash's team that often kept its cool under pressure. However, when pushed, it could unleash poweful moves and enter its sync-mode with Ash.

11 PISCES: Butterfree

Ash and Butterfree

The Pisces Sign is associated with a compassionate and gentle personality balanced with general nervousness, fear, and a tendency to trust too quickly.

Caterpie showed all of these signs when it was first caught by Ash. Caterpie wasn't much of a battler until it evolved from Metapod into Butterfree. At this point, Butterfree overcame many of its shortcomings, but it was still among Ash's most loving and loyal Pokemon until it left with its partner later in the series.

10 ARIES: Charizard

The Aries is known to be determined, bold, brave, and enthusiastic tempered by a short temper, moodiness, and aggression.

These signs easily line up with Ash's Charizard. When Charmander evolved into Charmeleon and later Charizard, it became far more reluctant to fight on Ash's behalf. However, Ash was eventually able to get Charizard to learn to take commands again, ultimately becoming a powerhouse fighter that took on the likes of Aerodactyl, Magmar, and Articuno. Charizard has returned to Ash's team on several ocassions and only seems to be getting stronger everytime, though it still has some of its rebellious and aggressive tendencies.

9 TAURUS: Tauros

Tauros Pokemon

The Taurus Sign is known for its reliability, patience, and devotion. However, it's also known to be quite stubborn and lack of agreeability.

This is an easy choice, as Ash's Tauros (or at least the ones we've seen apart from the 30-strong herd of them) are reliable battling choices that have trouble compromising. Tauros can be a powerful and reliable battle partner, but it takes a trainer strong enough to bring it out of Tauros.

8 GEMINI: Goodra

The Gemini is associated with a gentle, loving, and aggreable personality that is tempered by a chronic nervousness and inconsistency.

Ash's Goodra was among his more loving and loyal Pokemon in the Kalos region. When it evolved into its final form, Goodra discovered that it was a defensive wall that could take all kinds of hits without feeling much. However, it still was a worrier that only worsened when it discovered its old swamp was in danger. That led Goodra to returning home to watch over the swamp and saying farewell to Ash.

7 CANCER: Gengar

The Cancer is slow to trust but forms a firm loyalty once it finds someone worthy of it. It's determined and creative, but it is also moody and manipulative. It also remains suspicious of strangers.

Ash's Gengar, caught during Pokemon Journeys, fits all of these qualities. It was abandoned by its former trainer and became quite resentful of humans. After Ash showed Gengar due affection and compassion, it came to trust Ash, but it still distrusted other humans and loves scaring and pulling pranks on people.

6 LEO: Snorlax

Pokemon Journeys Ash's Snorlax Kanto

A Leo tends to be warm, funny, and lovable, but it can also be lazy, inflexible, and selfish. It requires effort to motivate a Leo, and that lines up with Snorlax perfectly.

Ash's Snorlax doesn't like to battle often, and it has a bad tendency to eat all of the party's food in one sitting. It prefers to sleep but seems to love Ash despite all of this. Ultimately, it can be a powerful battling partner, but it takes a lot to get Snorlax to fight.

5 VIRGO: Infernape

Pokemon Journeys Ash's Infernape Fire Fighting Type Sinnoh

The Virgo is loyal, kind, and hardworking, but it's also very shy and critical of itself. It also has a hard time relaxing.

Ash's Chimchar was abused by its former trainer before Ash took it in. It took Chimchar a while to warm up to Ash, but it ultimately came to be a very loyal and loving Pokemon. When it evolved into Monferno and then Infernape, it became a hard-working battler. It always looked forward to its next battle and preferred training over play.

4 LIBRA: Mr. Mime

Pokemon Pikachu Mr. Mime

The Libra is known to be agreeable, hard-working, and cooperative. However, it doesn't like confrontations and has a bad tendency to carry a grudge.

Before traveling with Ash, Mr. Mime, aka Mimey, lived with Ash's mom and helped her around the house. It didn't like to battle and had formed a tight bond with Ash's mom while often seeming to ignore other human beings. Eventually, Mimey went onto join Ash, and the two finally bonded. Mimey actually became an impressive battle partner for Ash.

3 SCORPIO: Pikachu

The Scorpio is a passionate and determined friend who never shies away from danger or a challenge. However, it tends to be distrustful, jealous, and violent.

This lines up with Pikachu perfectly. It took Pikachu a long time to warm up to Ash, and it still liked to electrocute Ash for a long time after that. However, Pikachu has since become Ash's most determined and trustworthy partner, and it's the only Pokemo to follow Ash through his entire journey so far. It never shies away from a fight and will take on any and all challenges.

2 SAGITTARIUS: Krookodile

Pokemon Ash's Krookodile

A Sagittarius tends to be generous and funny, but it often overpromises, is too blunt for its own good, and impatient.

This lines up with the personality of Ash's Krookodile from the Unova Region. It's a Pokemon that cares for others and has a boisterous personality with its sunglasses on, but it has a bad tendency to lash out but becomes extremely timid without its sunglasses.

1 CAPRICORN: Sceptile

Pokemon Sceptile

The Capricorn is known for being disciplined, responsible, and a good leader but can also be quite vengeful, pessimistic, and condescending.

This last sign brings us to Ash's Sceptile, who was one of Ash's best fighters in the Hoenn Region. Its strength largely came from its collected and controlled fighting style. However, Sceptile also knew it was one of Ash's most powerful Pokemon, which sometimes led it to being difficult with other Pokemon.
