The Ascent has arrived on Xbox and PC. One of the biggest recent titles for Xbox Game Pass, the top-down action role-playing shoot 'em up has quickly become a must-try on Xbox's subscription service. With hundreds of games to choose from on Xbox Game Pass, a question that many wonder about is simply how long it takes to beat a game. When it comes to The Ascent, the indie-developed cyberpunk co-op game is a bite-sized experience.

Leading up to the launch of the action shooter, Xbox fans have had a lot to look forward to about The Ascent. The Ascent can be players both as a co-op experience and in solo mode. The time it will take to beat the game could change slightly depending on how one plays the game, because in co-op mode some of the areas/bosses may be a bit tougher. Overall, The Ascent comes in at a manageable time to beat.

How Long Does it Take to Beat The Ascent

Depending on how quickly a player blazes through The Ascent, and or if they do so with a team thanks to co-op mode, The Ascent can be completed in about 9-14 hours. There are 12 main missions in the game. Each mission's length can vary, but on average they take around an hour. There are optional areas that players can explore. It is likely that players will learn to fly through The Ascent, even for speed run purposes, but the 9-14 hour length feels standard.

Along with the main missions, there are also side missions and additional challenges in The Ascent. If a player wants to fly through the game, they can do so quickly. However, it's possible to beat the main game and complete side missions as well. There are plenty of side missions in The Ascent.

Some of the side missions can be completed in as little as just 10 minutes, but the extra content in The Ascent adds more playing time. In total, a completionist type run of The Ascent is closer to 15-22 hours. Again, if speedrunners get a hold of The Ascent and start making 100% runs of the game, it is likely that they will complete the game completely much quicker than that--but anyone looking to jump into The Ascent should expect around that timeframe. The developers are continuing to support The Ascent and patch the game, so there is a lot to look forward to beyond even what is available today.

The Ascent is available now for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
