Artemis Fowl is a series of young adult novels of the same name that started back in 2001 and ended in 2012.

Disney plans to release a live-action feature-length film adapting the first book, which follows titular, 12-year-old criminal mastermind Artemis Fowl as he battles against powerful underground fairies that may have had something to do with his father's disappearance.

The movie suffered in development hell for about three years before finally receiving a release date of August 9, 2019. This date didn't work out, however, and the film's debut was pushed back to May 29, 2020. But this release date was for a theatrical premiere, which is no longer possible due to the coronavirus making social gatherings unsafe.

As such, Disney has decided to pull Artemis Fowl from theaters and instead premiere it on Disney Plus. Disney will change the film's release date again, as well, but to when exactly remains unclear, as the company stated that it would announce that information later. With that in mind, it's also unclear whether or not the new date will be before or after May 29. Hopefully, it'll be the latter to accommodate fans that have waited so patiently for the film.

Artemis Fowl will sneak onto Disney Plus at an undisclosed time.
