Voice Actor Outs 'Army of Two' Sequel 'Army of Four'?

Army of Four Outed By Voice Actor

Sometimes, publishers hire TV and film actors to do voice over work in video games - and sometimes, those actors accidently reveal what they're working on. This seems to be one of those times, as a voice actor may have let it slip that he's working on the oft-rumored Army of Four.

Joe Flanigan, star on TV shows like Stargate: Atlantis and Fringe tweeted on Saturday that he "just signed on to do the new Ao4 video game for Electronic Arts." Flangian also refered to the rumored Army of Four as a Battlefield spin off, though he later said that he was mistaken.

Army of Four is currently rumored to be in development, but EA has not announced anything regarding it. It seems likely that the "Ao4" Flanigan refers to is in fact Army of Four, as there don't seem to be any other EA properties that share the "Ao" acronym.

"Just signed on to do the new AO4 video game for Electronic Arts. Some splinter from Battlefield. Finally, my kids think I am cool again.

Actually, showing how distinctively uncool I am, I think I have those games mixed up. Thankgod my kids don't read twitter."

Army of Four has been rumored to be in development at EA Montreal, who are now known as one of EA's many Visceral Games studios. The title is said to be in development using the Frostbite 2 engine, which would make sense considering the recent news that Visceral's Montreal studio is working on a Dead Space title with Frosbite 2. That could also explain why Flanigan confused the two games, after all, Battlefield 3 was pretty much the poster child for DICE's engine.

The game is also said to bring four player co-op to the series, hence the "Four" in the title. But who are these two new characters? Assuming Salem and Rios are back, maybe we'll also get the chance to play as their partner Alice.

Army of Two: The 40th Day offered many improvements to the original - though the story could have been stronger. Let's hope that if Army of Four does exist, Visceral will continue to make improvements to the formula - in addition to fixing the lag that plauged The 40th Day's multiplayer.

Unless of course, it's really a new IP called Attack of Fours, a children's math game involving Salem and Rios. Actually, EA, make that.
