French development company Arkane Studios is known for creating experimental stealth-action games that are well received by both critical and general audiences. The studio's most recent game, Deathloop, was nominated for multiple awards at both the BAFTAs and The Game Awards this year. While Arkane has made some interesting titles in the past, many fans were introduced to the studio through the Dishonored games, and both the first game and its sequel show a distinctive style in both gameplay and setting that has attracted fans for years.

With the tenth anniversary of the first Dishonored game on the way, some fans are anticipating that another title set in Dunwall or its surrounding areas could be on the way. This speculation formed as a result of a recent job listing posted by Arkane for a Lead Level Designer. While the post doesn't give away what game the right candidate will be working on, it does give some information on the position's required qualifications, which hint that another Dishonored title could be approaching.

One of the qualifications for the job is to have an understanding of the design philosophy behind "action-adventure stealth games such as the Dishonored series." While this doesn't exactly confirm the existence of another Dishonored title, it does mark that this Lead Level Designer is unlikely to be brought onto the team currently working on Redfall, which is Arkane's next expected release and a co-op FPS. That means that the studio's next title could stray from the FPS design of Redfall and return to the stealth-action formula.

DISHONORED

Due to the reference to Dishonored being quite vague, some fans refuse to believe that a new game could be on the way until Arkane reveals what it is working on next. With Redfall recently facing a delay alongside Bethesda's other major 2022 title Starfield, it is likely that even if another Dishonored game is in the works, development is in its very early stages at best. However, to see another Dishonored game would likely excite the majority of Arkane's fans, as many of them were introduced to the studio through their revenge mission in Dunwalll.

Considering most endings of Dishonored 2 don't leave much space for a sequel, Arkane may have to create an entirely new protagonist for fans to follow. Even if the studio doesn't return to Dishonored and makes a new stealth-action game with a new IP, fans will still fondly remember the games set around the stories of Corvo Attano and Emily. Some of Dishonored 2's levels are even considered by some as Arkane's best work.

The Dishonored series is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
