There are many things to do in the survival game Ark: Survival Evolved, from fighting the elements and gigantic dinosaurs to creating progressively more durable strongholds and waging war on other players. One Ark: Survival Evolved player has spent over 100 hours building a massive fortress that rivals some of history's biggest castles.

Survival games like Minecraft, Conan Exiles, and No Man's Sky often offer creative modes that allow players to express their building imagination without the threats of the game causing them to have to repetitively restart. In addition to these games, Ark: Survival Evolved has tons of blueprints to use through the building and crafting process, and as a result, it isn't difficult to put hundreds of hours into the game in the standard game mode and creative alike. Reddit user Rikkuaoi recently shared an image of a fortress that was created over the course of more than 100 hours of gameplay separate from prior experience and other builds they made in the game to learn the depth of Ark's systems.

Rikkuaoi's fortress extends from one cliff side to another, with walkways extending across the dangerous drop from high above, connecting multiple towers to countless sets of stairs. The impressive castle has one central tower that has a unique style to it compared to the other tall structures, while the castle is separated in two, with a smaller one on the left side and a much wider and taller building to the right. Although using wood as the primary material for the fortress may have made it easier, Rikkuaoi's creation has a more authentic look by using stone instead, with other Ark: Survival Evolved resources used for the more intricate details.

According to Rikkuaoi, the angle of their Ark: Survival Evolved screenshot was the only way of viewing the entirety of the castle that wouldn't be out of place next to the titular location of Hogwarts Legacy. There are a total of twelve towers of varying heights visible in Rikkuaoi's image of their fortress, and there are even more sets of stairs that allow the Ark: Survival Evolved player to traverse the base effectively. Although almost 5,000 Reddit users have upvoted the Ark: Survival Evolved post, it's currently unclear if there are equally intricate interiors to match the incredible exterior of the creation.

While many fans responded to Rikkuaoi's post to express appreciation for the dedication and hard work put into it, some Ark: Survival Evolved console players like Metacritic reviewers in the past lamented that performance on their machine doesn't allow for such detail. Rikkuaoi admitted that they try to express themselves just as much in other survival games, but that Castles, Keeps, and Forts Remastered in the Steam Workshop "always brings" them back.

Ark: Survival Evolved is available now for mobile, Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
