A couple of years removed from its release, and ARK: Survival Evolved is showing no signs of slowing down. Developer Studio Wildcard has continued to add content to ARK: Survival Evolved on a regular basis, with the latest patch adding a slew of new creatures, items, vehicles, and structures to the game, including toilets and motorboats.

Patch 258 for ARK: Survival Evolved introduces five new creatures to the game: the hyena-like Hyaenodon; a massive beast that looks like a mix between an anteater and a sasquatch called Megatherium; a Komodo dragon-inspired creature named Megalania; an ugly sea monster called Hesperornis; and a strange tyrannosaurus offshoot that can damage enemies or buff teammates with a special roar attack named Yutyrannus.

New creatures aside, ARK: Survival Evolved's latest patch also adds new technologies for players to utilize. Among these scientific advancements are the previously mentioned toilets and motorboats. Both the toilets and motorboats function much like they do in real life, with players able to use the toilets to relieve themselves, and the motorboats to travel quickly across large expanses of water.

Along with five new dinosaurs, toilets, and motorboats, the latest update for ARK: Survival Evolved also adds a harpoon gun to the game. The harpoon gun should give players an edge when engaging in underwater combat, making it easier to fight off any hostile sea creatures that players happen to come across while exploring the open world.

All of this content is available now for the PC version of the game, but Studio Wildcard hasn't made it clear when console owners can look forward to wrangling the new dinosaurs or using in-game toilets. It usually doesn't take long for the console versions of ARK to catch up to the PC release, but some fans may still be frustrated that the console versions aren't given higher priority. After all, ARK has already sold over 1 million copies on PS4, and the game is more popular on Xbox One than Steam.

Console fans may have to wait a bit longer to try out the new content, but regardless, Studio Wildcard deserves credit for continuing to add such significant content to ARK for free. If the game continues to grow in popularity, fans should be able to look forward to these updates for a long time to come.

ARK: Survival Evolved is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
