The Desert Titan is one of three tamable giant bosses in Ark Extinction. The massive creature will only appear if it is summoned by a player. Gamers will need to travel to 86.3 latitude and 70.7 longitude to summon the beast. The cave where the Titan is located is not for the faint of heart.

There are onyc, titanaboas, and rock golems on the pathway to the terminal. Gamers should have at least middle-tier weapons and a lot of bandages, as they will take a significant amount of damage locating and fighting the Titan.

Summoning The Titan

Desert titan Ark Combat evolved

Before players can summon the Desert Titan, they will need to gather a few items. Below are all the items needed to summon the Titan:

  • Artifact of Chaos
  • 100 Corrupt Hearts
  • 10 Fire Talons
  • 10 Sarcosuchus skins

Players can get the fire talons from corrupted Wyverns and Sarcosuchus skins from the Sarcos or Crocodiles. Corrupt hearts are dropped by all corrupted creatures. The Artifact of chaos can be found at the edge of a cliff just to the right of the terminal. Once retrieved, gamers can then activate the terminal and summon the titan.

Fighting The Titan

Once the terminal is activated, players will be teleported into the desert and the Desert Titan will appear over the player's head. While it may not look that big at first, the Desert Titan is a massive creature. The Titan has 250,000 health, and is protected by the Titan Flock, which are small level-five creatures. The Titan's most devastating attack is the lightning strike. Gamers will see electricity forming around them moments before the strike occurs. Players must move their mount out of the way or the strike will take out a large portion of the character and mount's health.

Ark gamers can land on the Desert Titan, but it will be more practical to stay mounted. The Titan Flock will swarm players that do not continue to move, making landing on the Titan difficult. Each Desert Titan will have several corrupted zones, which appear as light purple circles on the creature. Players need to attack the corrupted areas to weaken the Titan. The most effective way to weaken the Titan is to have it use the lightning strike against itself. Gamers can wait for the lightning aura while above one of the zones and fly away just before the lightning strikes. After repeating the process, the Titan's corrupted zones will disappear.

Second Stage Of The Fight

ARK extinction

After the initial corrupted areas of the Titan disappear, the creature will use two additional attacks. The first is a barrel roll, which will knock players off of the Titan. Survivors using a flying mount will no be able to stay in the air while the attack is active. The second attack the Titan will use is a tail whip. Gamers can easily avoid the tail whip, as the animation is quite slow. Players will then need to finish off the Titan by damaging the new corrupted areas of its skin.

Taming The Titan

Once all of the corrupted zones have been destroyed for the second time, the Desert Titan will appear suspended in mid air. If the titan is not moving, players can land on the Titan and tame it. The tamed Titan is pre-equipped with a large platform saddle and a 9,000 carry weight capacity. The capacity of the Titan is not effected by items and dinos placed on its platform. This means that the Titan can hold mounts with additional carrying capacity. The Desert Titan's health is based on how much damage it sustained during the fight, but gamers will have a few minutes to heal the creature before its health is set.

Titan Attacks And Loot

Desert Titan Dossier

While using the Desert Titan as a mount, players can use a bite attack as well as release a flock on enemy targets. Both abilities do a significant amount of damage. Additionally, players can use the Titan's lightning ability on foes. However, there are a limited number of lightning strikes players can use each time they ride the Desert Titan.

Ark gamers that do not want to tame the Titan can kill it and receive all of the loot items listed below:

  • Tek Generator
  • Tek Boots
  • Tek Railgun
  • Tek Replicator
  • Desert Titan Dossier
  • High-Level Weapons And Armor
  • Blueprints for Tek Gear

Players will also be able to harvest raw meat, raw prime meat, hide, and corrupted nodules from the corpse. The massive Titan will provide players with all the meat and hide they need for the foreseeable future. Another option is to use the taxidermy tool to collect the Dermis of the Titan, which can serve as a warning to raiders. The taxidermy tool will also yield more meat than a stone hatchet. Gamers will probably be better off taming the Titan and keeping it. The creature has unbelievable utility, and any base with an active Desert Titan is well protected. Creative builders have actually constructed full-scale bases on the Titan's platform.
