Both dragon-like creatures and destructive robots are quite awesome in their own rights, however, when conceptually combined, players get the deadly and majestic Voidwyrm in ARK: Survival Evolved. By aesthetics alone, it is a beast very much desired by many players, however, it will take some effort to tame one.
Thankfully, there are some great ways to do so, which will then let gamers harness the power of these fierce flying fiends for their own gains. One may even be able to breed them to create a dynasty of specialized Voidwyrm allies with which to soar the skies in ARK: Survival Evolved.

How To Tame A Voidwyrm
Taming a Voidwyrm is very dangerous and can lead to death quite quickly in a number of ways, so before setting out to capture one of these metal wyverns, players should prepare for the worst.
Firstly, players will have to force a Voidwyrm to land, which will involve having to take out 50% of its health with ranged attacks. After doing so, the flying fiend will land to attack the player from the ground, however, this is the opportunity one needs to begin taming it.
Players will then need to mount the Voidwyrm, preferably without being burnt to ash, so it is recommended to get around to the back or sides of the beast to attempt any sort of mounting. After successfully getting onto the Voidwyrm, it will take off, initiating the next phase of taming.
While in the air, the Voidwyrm will try to perform barrel rolls to throw the player off of its back, though, this is also the cue to try and feed the creature a Mutagen in order to gain some taming progress. The window of opportunity for feeding a Voidwyrm prior to a barrel roll is very short, so fast reflexes will definitely be required to achieve a worthwhile result. Keep feeding the Voidwyrm each time it tries to perform a barrel roll and players will eventually win the wyvern over.
What Voidwyrms Are Good For
Put simply, Voidwyrms are the best at making one feel like the ruler of the skies. Their robotic majesty while soaring through the air, while possibly roasting enemies, is absolutely worth the dangerous taming process. As such, there are a ton of different niches for the Voidwyrm in one's creature army.
Best Roles For Voidwyrms
- Resource Collection - Without having to dismount, players riding a Voidwyrm can pick up resources like Wood and Thatch, making any harvesting of such materials much faster than normal
- Aerial Transportation - Flying around on the back of a Voidwyrm (possibly with a passenger) would be both cool and efficient thanks to them being fast flyers with great stamina reserves, just be wary of their wide turn radius
- Combat - Being an airborne creature possessing a deadly breath attack and vicious bites means that Voidwyrms are incredibly useful for any combat-related pursuits, such as attacking enemy bases, hostile creatures, and anything else that looks at the player the wrong way
- Hunting - With such great speed and offensive capabilities, in addition to intimating size, players can ride on a Voidwyrm for lots of easy hunting thanks to the quick kills it can make and the fact that smaller creatures won't aggro on them
