Studio Wildcard updates ARK: Survival Evolved to include giant beavers as well as handcuffs that can be used to restrain other players that have been taken prisoner.

Studio Wildcard is back at it again with another update for ARK: Survival Evolved. While it's unclear when this new update will be making its way to Xbox One, PC gamers that hop on ARK: Survival Evolved will be prompted to download the update, which adds a new creature to the game in addition to a new item.

The new creature, joining the likes of ARK's giant kangaroo, is a giant beaver, also known as the Castoroides. These giant beavers are some of the larger creatures that have been added to ARK so far, with numerous helpful abilities to give players an edge over other players in the game.

While the beavers appear to only seat one player, unlike the three-seat Gallimimus creature, they have a number of other functions. For example, the giant beavers in ARK can build dams, swim, harvest items, carry wood, and even serve as a mobile crafting station. Overall, it seems like the giant beavers will be a much-appreciated addition to the game.

The new item added to ARK in yesterday's update is the handcuffs. As expected, players are able to utilize these handcuffs to cuff other players and hold them prisoner. It will be interesting to see how the addition of handcuffs changes the way that the game is played, and if it will encourage players to do less killing and more capturing. While the handcuffs may not seem as practical  ARK's grappling hook, they're an amusing addition to the game nevertheless.

Even though updates to ARK regularly come on Tuesday, between the giant beaver and the handcuffs, yesterday's update contained a surprising amount of content. Just a week ago, Studio Wildcard announced a sabbatical of adding new creatures to ARK, so fans expected a longer wait.

If this means that Studio Wildcard's little break from adding creatures to the game is over with completely, then players probably won't have to wait long for the next significant content update for ARK. Meanwhile, Studio Wildcard next priority should be to get this new content to Xbox One players, as ARK is more popular on Xbox One than PC, after all.

In any case, the latest content update for ARK: Survival Evolved should be appreciated by avid fans of the game. The giant beaver looks to be a fun addition to the game, and the handcuffs should add an intriguing new dynamic to the ARK PvP experience.

ARK: Survival Evolved is expected to release in June for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
