The creators of League of Legends have a new animated series in the works with Netflix called Arcane. The exciting new series dropped an action-packed trailer this past weekend that dives into the steampunk utopia Piltover and the dark underground of Zaun in a world where science and magic are beginning to collide.

The Arcane trailer introduces audiences to the two main characters of the show, sisters Jinx and Vi, who are tragically separated and work to reunite. Jinx and Vi are characters from the original League of Legends roster. Every scene of the Arcane trailer is busy with sprawling city landscapes, immense aircraft, and a series of characters looking for their way to fit into it all.

The Arcane trailer feels like an incredible blend of the worlds of Star Wars, Ratchet & Clank, and the original League of Legends game. The underworld Zaun is filling to the brim with violence and chaos, threatening everyone in it, while the top leaders and scientists in Piltover work their way to new discoveries and revelations to make a better world. The Arcane trailer often shows clips of Piltover with darkness or shadows slowly overcoming it as the criminal underworld wreaks havoc.

The series was originally announced as a part of the celebrations for the 10th anniversary of League of Legends in 2019 and originally planned for a release in 2020. COVID-19 led to multiple setbacks in the production and release. The show is produced through a collaboration with Riot Games and animation from Fortiche Productions. The series will be released both through Netflix and China's Tencent Video site.

Arcane has an incredible voice cast that compliments the complex and multifaceted animation style perfectly. The cast list also brings some other champions and characters from League of Legends to the forefront. The current cast includes Hailee Steinfeld as Vi, Ella Purnell as Jinx, Kevin Alejandro as Jayce, Katie Leung as Caitlyn, Jason Spisak as Silco, Toks Olagundoye as Mel, JB Blanc as Vander, and Harry Lloyd as Viktor.

Arcane will be split into three different episode acts that will be released over three weeks beginning in early November 2021. The show is expected to contain adult subject matter and situations aimed at a 14-year-old and over the audience, similar to the rating of the video game. The trailer promises an emotional tale full of action-filled sequences, plotting masterminds, monsters, and heroes of every shape and size.

Arcane premieres on Netflix on November 6, 2021.
