Despite releasing with little fanfare, 2016's Aragami proved to be a hit for the relatively small Barcelona-based studio Lince Works. The studio managed to make over $3 million off the game's sales, and it was relatively well reviewed with scores averaging around 70 on Metacritic. This success was enough to spur Lince Works to bring its stealth action experience to next-gen with Aragami 2, and fans now have fresh look with the newest gameplay trailer ahead of its fall release.

Aragami 2 will drop players in the boots of the titular supernatural assassin hundreds of years after the events of the first game. The new trailer is relatively light on narrative spoilers and does not tease what the conflict the Aragami finds himself involved in this time around. However, one story spoiler the trailer shows is Aragami building a new clan of shadow-powered assassins to defeat the enemies he finds in Feudal Japan.

Like the first game, Aragami 2 appears to be a stealth-driven action game where players will need to outmaneuver and out-think their enemies before progressing onward. They will need to use the suite of shadow powers at the Aragami's disposal to do so, allowing players to traverse the world without letting their presence be known. However, if enemies are alerted, it appears players will need to rely on a combination of combat prowess and abilities to either escape or defeat their foes.

Perhaps the biggest change coming to Aragami 2 will be the inclusion of other shadow assassins. Players appear to gain new allies as they build the Aragami's clan, who will join them in missions and combat with abilities all their own. These allies will be available as part of the game's new three-player co-op, though single-player will still be available for lone swordsmen interested in facing down their enemies with no support.

Arguably the biggest stand-out aspect of the new trailer is the updated visual design thanks to Aragami 2 being developed for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. While the art design is still similar to the first game, Lince Works appears to be taking full advantage of the new consoles to build more detailed environments and character models. World lighting also appears to have received an upgrade which, ideally, will help those who want to play stealthily and take full advantage of the shadow powers on hand.

Aragami 2 is scheduled to release on September 21, 2021 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
