Apple Unveils iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR

Today, Apple's annual September press conference began at the Steve Jobs Theater on the American multinational technology company's circular Apple Park campus in Cupertino, California, with droves in attendance to find out what the firm has in store for 2018. During the event, Apple officially unveiled the iPhone XS, the iPhone XS Max, and the iPhone XR as the latest devices to be included in the company's iPhone family.

Pre-orders for the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max begin this Friday, September 14, with the items then going on sale next Friday, September 21. The iPhone XR, on the other hand, can be pre-ordered beginning on October 19, with the device then set to go on sale a week later on October 26. As indicated by the image below, pricing for the iPhone XR starts at $749, while the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max cost $999 and $1099, respectively. Of course, it's worth noting that each of these prices only pertain to the base 64 GB models.

When it comes to specs, Apple has stocked both the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max with dual 12-megapixel cameras, an OLED display (5.8-inch and 6.5-inch, respectively), and faster A12 Bionic chips. The cheaper, more colorful iPhone XR has been built to be a bargain option for Apple customers, and it comes with a dual 12-megapixel camera as well, and a 6.1-inch LCD screen instead of OLED. As far as the devices' hardware is concerned, mobile gamers should be able to enjoy the latest titles, such as Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls: Blades, running with optimal performance.

All things considered, the iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max will likely be seen by Apple acolytes and outsiders alike as some incredibly pricey phones, especially since the iPhone 8 and iPhone X just came out last year. That said, though, the annual cycle of refreshing the last iteration of its phone hardware is something that Apple has maintained for years. Only time will tell if the same release schedule begins to impact the company's bottom line.

Apple's iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max release on September 21, 2018, and the iPhone XR comes out on October 26, 2018.
