Apple announced the new iPhone 12 in a digital showcase event today. Four versions of the new iPhones have been revealed with new features and designs. The iPhone 12 Pro is the advanced model, and the iPhone 12 Pro Max is the largest, reportedly most advanced iPhone ever released.

A few of the biggest new features in the iPhone 12 Pro and Max include 5G support and a redesign that resembles the hard edges of the iPhone 4. The new iPhone 12 Pro is larger than previous models, standing at 6.1 inches compared to the 5.8 inch iPhone 11 Pro, according to The Verge. The iPhone 12 Pro will begin at $999, with preorders starting on October 16 and shipping expected to begin on October 23.

The iPhone Pro Max stands as the new largest iPhone, at 6.7 inches. The Pro Max is a little more pricey, starting at $1,099 with 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage options. Pro Max preorders will start on November 6, and devices are expected to ship out on November 13, one day after the PlayStation 5 release date. On top of being larger than the Pro, the iPhone 12 Pro Max also has more camera features packed into its triple camera system, according to Apple.

Both the iPhone 12 Pro and Max feature 12 megapixel wide, telephoto, and ultra-wide camera lenses. The triple camera system has upgraded features such as a f/1.6 aperture on the wide camera and a 4x optical zoom on the telephoto lens. However, the Max takes it a step further with a new 12 MP telephoto that can zoom up to 2.5 times and has a focal length of 65 mm.

Apple also teased a new set of features that will launch on the iPhone 12 Pro and Max later this year. The features are called "Apple ProRAW," and will add to the iPhone photo and video capabilities. Apple ProRAW will allow users to shoot in RAW format and still use Apple's photo editing seamlessly. The feature will be available for images captured on all four camera lenses.

The iPhone 12 Pro and Max also have upgraded physical features like a stainless steel design that is being offered in grey, steel, gold and blue. The upgraded models also features "Ceramic Shield" technology, which has stronger glass and boasts four times better drop performance ratings. The models will feature the A14 bionic chip, which is claimed to be "the most powerful chip ever made by Apple," according to Vice President Greg Joswiak. The iPhone 12 Pro and Max are steps up from the base model, but consumers will have to wait until October 23 for the Pro and November 13 for the Max.
