Apple recently opted to stream WWDC 2020 online, following in the footsteps of many other companies like Sony choosing to livestream reveal events. One of the biggest announcements this year for Apple was a reveal of a ton of new features that'll be available in iOS 14 this fall.

The Home Screen is the biggest change to UI, with a new widget implementation system that will let users place time-sensitive widgets like weather and maps. Siri and phone calls won't take up the whole screen anymore, with the latter gaining the option to be a banner notification. There'll also be access to a new App Library that can help users view and arrange apps and pages more easily.

App clips are another huge new feature, and will let a "particular product or business" quickly load info for the user to rent or purchase items and pay fees with ease. They can be shared via Messages or App Clip/QR codes. Messages is also getting beefed up, with pinnable message threads, mentions, inline replies, and more Memoji options.

Apple is also adding great new options to Maps for cyclists, curated Guides to point people to interesting places in a city, and electric vehicle routing. Games like Pokemon GO will be easier than ever with greener options to navigate around cities and towns.

Better privacy features will also help users feel more secure about their shared info by getting to view app privacy practices on the App Store, sharing their approximate rather than precise location, and knowing when an app is using the phone's microphone and camera. The pandemic may have affected the iPhone global supply, but Apple hasn't stopped developing helpful features for its users.
