Apple hosted its "Spring Loaded" event earlier today that saw a handful of exciting announcements for Apple fans. One of those is a complete redesign of the very popular iMac computers that are heavily inspired by the company's history.
While Apple has reinvented its image over the years to be comprised primarily of clean silver design and brushed chrome, the company's earlier designs were filled with various colored renditions. It does seem, however, that the company may be looking to go back to its colorful origins, as Apple has slowly introduced multiple new colors to iPhone models in recent iterations.
Originally hinted by a leak about the Apple event a couple of days ago, the new iMac computer has been revealed and covers the color spectrum. The new design also features an incredibly thin case of only 11.5 millimeters that reduces the computer's volume to half that of its predecessor. The computers also boast a 24-inch 4.5K Retina display that also features a new True Tone technology that adjusts the screen's color temperature based on the environment to ensure a more natural experience. The new iMac also features upgraded speakers, a 1080p camera, and a three-microphone array.
While the new iMac being available in a range of colors is exciting for many Apple fans, the computers also boast seriously impressive internals. Most of the internal improvements come from Apple's new M1 chip that was designed specifically for Macs. While also allowing the system to be compressed enough for the iMac's reduced size, it also packs a lot of punch and significantly increases CPU performance, doubles GPU performance, and allows apps that use machine learning to do so three times as fast. All of the changes and updates add up to revolutionize the new iMac, which adds to Apple's recent dedication towards implementing some of its biggest redesigns across the company's line of products.
Among the multiple announcements made at Apple's recent event, the iMac redesign is one of the most eye-catching. The changes are a big leap for the iMac line and it will be interesting to see what the changes will lead to. The increased GPU and CPU power could contribute to Apple computers gaining a bigger presence in gaming, while the changes will also undoubtedly have a big effect on the different apps that are developed for the system.
