Subscription-based entertainment is the new norm today, and the gaming world isn't any different. The success of mainstream gaming services like Xbox GamePass and Playstation Plus has pushed the frontiers of uncharted water in the gaming industry. Considering the pioneering giant that Apple is, it was no surprise when it headlined the mobile gaming world with its Apple Arcade subscription services. Ever since its release in 2019, the subscription Apple Arcade has proved its worth through its business model, and mobile gamers (even though not wholly impressed) agree that it is a relatively affordable way to ad-free gaming.

Apple Arcade boasts some of the most extreme racing games, both exclusive and widely renowned. Although the subscription-based service hasn't been churning out gems every day, there have been racing games that have quickly grown to become fan favorites or have been the favorites from the start.

5 Warped Kart Racers

Team Nintendo was a pioneer in bringing several of its stand-alone characters under one roof in various genres and enjoying success on a grand scale. Several decades after its first installment, many other IPs tried their luck at the racing game universe. The new one on the block is the Warped Kart Racers for Apple Arcade.

The game features most of the characters from the list of Fox Network animated adult TV shows and puts them in a 'quirky and wacky' kart race. Even though the game has been cited as a rip-off of the Mario Kart franchise even before its launch, the idea of characters that are relatable to a different age group pitted against each other in a kart race stirred up quite the excitement. The entire family set from Family Guy, a few majors from American Dad, and King of the Hill made their way into the debut roster list. Considering that iOS games can have updates in the future, it wouldn't be surprising to see The Simpsons getting on board as well.

4 Detonation Racing

In the latter half of the 2000s, the spot for the most beloved street car racing game was battled out between the Need For Speed franchise and the Burnout franchise. However, times have changed with the birth of a new decade, and both franchises could not recreate their prime success in mainstream consoles and PC. For fans who love a street racing game with spice and lots of kabooms, Detonation Racing is the perfect pick.

The game from Electric Square (not to be confused with Electronic Arts) combines high-speed racing on the city streets with diabolical hurdles placed/dropped/popped along the way. On a more profound thought, one might find it to be a bizarre baby of Burnout and Hot Wheels and is a downright blast (pun intended) to kill time on iOS devices.

3 Super Impossible Road

Super Impossible Road 2

Super Impossible Road takes a road less traveled, literally. The game is set in the vast void of space, where different race courses are scattered across distant galaxies and relevant backdrops. Gamers used to the 1993 classic Sky Roads would find similarities here and there, but the high-octane game needs quick actions.

The courses have obstacles, dangerous bends, hot-wheels-type loops, and boosts. However, there is a catch! The game does not play fair by any rules, and players can do whatever it takes to cross the finish line. What makes it even more fun is its online cross-play across consoles like the Playstation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch, allowing players to compete with anyone and everyone around the gaming world.

2 Agent Intercept

Agent Intercept Apple Arcade

Agent Intercept is a game to pick up from the store for those seeking an offline mission-based action racer. The game is time-based and has a Fast and Furious vibe. Players take up the role of an undercover agent tasked with bringing high-profile getaway criminals with his loaded car - the Sceptre. Steering through the harsh environment, dodging bombs, bullets, and hazards along the way while pushing the Sceptre to its maximum limit to take down the enemy forms the crux of the game.

Every mission is different and has its own storyline. Apart from its undercover spy racing aspect, the game also features, or in this case, pays homage to some of the most iconic car perks seen in the bond movies. Machine guns in the front and oil slicks from the rear, with a push of a button, are things that give the players an intense road rage adventure. The cinematic visuals helping brief the objectives and the in-game graphics go hand in hand to give players an experience fitting from the Fast and Furious.

1 Speed Demons

Speed Demons could be the spiritual remake for players privy to the 8-bit classic Road Fighters that could fill up the nostalgic void left for decades. The game from Randian games features a top-down highway racing experience with four different gameplay modes to suit the gaming mood.

The game combines a good dose of action and intense driving moments bundled in butter-smooth graphics for iOS devices. With more than a ton of vehicles to choose from and limitless ways to cause mayhem on the streets, this game is bound to creep up as a sure-shot favorite.
