Apex Legends’ Season 7 content is well underway but some fans are worried about some of the game’s various legends. The development team has been relatively good with updating Apex Legends based on fan feedback, but some fans are worried about one legend in particular.

Wraith has long been one of the most popular characters in Apex Legends since the game first launched. Apex Legends’ senior game designer Daniel Klein recently spoke about how the team wants to keep Wraith “under control” when Season 8 rolls around.

With Apex Legends’ wide roster of characters to choose from, it can be a lot of work to balance each and every character. Though new seasons in Apex bring plenty of buffs and nerfs to various characters, sometimes characters still end up falling to the wayside. That has not been the case with Apex Legends’ Wraith, however. In fact, it’s been quite the opposite since Apex’s launch back in February 2019.

Wraith has long been one of the strongest and most frequently picked characters in Apex Legends. Recently, Respawn revealed Wraith was the most-played character in Season 7 as well. Now, in an interview on the Third Party Podcast, Apex’s senior game designer Daniel Klein said the team is looking to bring Wraith “under control” in a future update. Klein mentioned that the team already has a specific direction in mind for what they want to do to rein in Wraith’s dominance in the Apex Legends’ meta.

Wraith Apex Legends use portal offensively

Klein said that the team wants to actively avoid hitting Wraith’s kit any harder than they have in the past, and wants to focus on fixing Wraith’s hitboxes instead. Klein says, “With Wraith, our approach is going to be very similar to Pathfinder. We’re going to take a look at her hitboxes and see how much wiggle room we have there. With Pathfinder, it turned out that we had so much… that was a 20% increase in hitbox size.” Pathfinder got some major changes in Apex Legends’ Season 7 update, and it sounds like Wraith is going to get the same treatment next season.

Unfortunately for those players who are tired of Wraith dominating the game’s landscape, it seems the changes are going to take a while. Season 7 of Apex Legends just kicked off not too long ago, so it will be some time before Season 8. Still, Apex Legends’ Holo-Day Bash update is on the way, so maybe Wraith will see a few small tweaks then.

Apex Legends is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Switch version arriving sometime next year.
