Following a lot of rumors circulating on the internet and a few teases from developer Respawn Entertainment, Apex Legends' new season 2 character Wattson has officially been unveiled during the EA Play stream. Alongside Natalie “Wattson” Paquette, of course, Respawn also revealed a ton of new details concerning season 2 of the popular battle royale title as well.

Apex Legends Season 2, officially dubbed Battle Charge, releases July 2 and Wattson, in a vein similar to Octane, will appear alongside the official launch. Her playstyle is described as the most synergistic, with strong defenses that change the overall battle approach from all angles and could disrupt the standard tri-member party (Wraith, Bangalore, Lifeline, etc.)

Wattson's abilities are described as the most interrelated of all Apex Legends' characters. Her passive ability sees her ultimate ability receive a full charge from an Ultimate Accelerant instead of the standard 20% increase in charge. Her tactical is the ability to create an electrified fence up to 12 nodes, thereby giving players a ton of variety in using this tactical. This fence has a ton of different interactions when an ally or an enemy passes through, with one example being that opponents passing through will be pinged to the whole team.

Her ultimate ability is dubbed the Interception Pylon and it blocks bombardments and grenade spam while recharging ally shields and Wattson's own fence ability. Lore-wise, it is also revealed that Wattson and her father were behind the creation of the Apex Legends ring. She grew up in and around this arena, so it'll be interesting to see her fighting in it when the Apex Legends season 2 and the new Battle Pass go live.

It remains to be seen how Wattson shakes up the meta, but many will likely welcome some new blood to Apex Legends. In addition to the other changes coming this season such as the new L-Star weapon and the major changes to the season 2 Battle Pass approach, season 2 seems to come with more content than the first, a welcome sight for many fans of the battle royale title.

Apex Legends is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
