The next War Games LTM has taken over in Apex Legends which drastically changes the way Hot Zones work. Ultra Zones adds two more Hot Zones per match, meaning more high-tier loot is available, and each one is engulfed by a Flash Point bubble that heals players.

Flash Points make their return to Apex Legends since their introduction in the Flashpoint LTM during the Aftermarket Collection event in Season 6. With the War Games event LTMs, adding small changes to some of the core rules and features of Apex Legends, Respawn could be bringing in some big changes for Season 9.

War Games Ultra Zones LTM Explained

The Ultra Zones LTM specifically changes how Hot Zones work in Apex Legends by increasing the number of Hot Zones per match from one to three, meaning there will be even more high-tier loot available on Kings Canyon and Olympus. The Hot Zones are spread randomly across the arena, and each one is guaranteed to have one fully kitted Gold weapon and one Gold item inside.

Furthermore, a Flash Point bubble surrounds the area of Hot Zone for the entire match. Players inside Flash Point bubbles will gradually heal automatically. If a player takes any damage while inside the bubble, they will have to wait six seconds while taking no more damage before the automatic healing kicks in.

Players will be able to tell that they are under the healing effects of a Flash Point thanks to the small health cross icon that appears next to their name in the bottom-left corner of the screen. When players take damage, this icon turns red and will display the regeneration delay timer.

Unlike the Aftermarket event LTM that featured Flash Points, Ultra Zones has normal Ring rules, and it does not shrink onto a specific Flash Point for the final zone. Healing item availability is also unaffected, so the Flash Points in Ultra Zones serve as an extra way of healing to make gunfights longer and more chaotic as players are able to regenerate health, much like in the Armor Regen LTM.

The Ultra Zones LTM will be running from Thursday, April 15, to Monday, April 19, so Apex Legends players will have plenty of time to check out the special mode over the weekend. The Auto Banner LTM will then take over. After some bugs led to its removal, the Second Chance LTM should also be returning at some point in the War Games event schedule.

As Season 8 draws to a close, Respawn also teased some upcoming changes for Season 9 of Apex Legends and set an announcement date in a short video celebrating the game crossing 100 million players.

Apex Legends is available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
