Apex Legends has established itself as one of the main go-to Battle Royale game in recent years. Continuous live-service updates by Respawn Entertainment make sure there is always a reason to hop in. But the Season 7 patch for Apex Legends added in Trident vehicles, and the feature comes sporting plenty of bugs.

As a battle royale game, Apex Legends involves massive maps that shrink the playable area over the course of a match. Occasionally players can be far away from the safe zone or want to travel to a new location. With the season's additional Olympus map, Respawn introduced high speed Tridents. These make crossing to a different part of the world a lot quicker. While not overpowered, the machines are causing various fans some unfortunate issues.

This is not unusual given that Tridents could cause flying glitches or crashing when the mechanic first came to the game. But with the return, it looks like Respawn still has some bugs to patch out for the vehicle to be truly useful. In some cases, the Trident skyrockets players attempting to mount. While this can be funny at first, it makes trying to get on one of these machines a hassle. To make matters worse, some fans never landed after getting launched which requires quitting out and trying a new round.

It turns out that these problems are actually becoming fairly widespread. Enough at least to prompt posts on Reddit and a response from Respawn. The competitor is attempting to heal while riding on the Trident, which leads to a strange interaction. Both the character and vehicle float to a high point near Grow Towers, something which should not be occurring at all. A senior designer at Respawn, Dave Osei, responded that the team is looking into the problem.

Games as a whole are prone to various bugs and glitches, but it can be taxing in a multiplayer game. Battling against other players is the focus, so game breaking bugs in Apex Legends create imbalance and tarnish the experience. Most fans probably had a good laugh about the Trident glitches, but it is good to see Respawn acknowledging the issue. Using a vehicle in a battle royale should be exciting, but for now it is mostly causing frustration.

Even with the Reddit post though, there is no official confirmation of a fix coming for Tridents. Apex Legends does see random glitches somewhat often, and Respawn typically reveals the bug list update to players. But with the Nintendo Switch version having released recently, the team certainly has its hands full. For now, fans of the game will want to avoid jumping on a Trident to prevent glitchy shenanigans.

Apex Legends is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
