Apex Legends is coming to the end of its live service's Season 2 soon. Season 2: Battle Charge is expected to end in early October and developer Respawn appears to be preparing for what's coming next. Apex Legends players have likely noticed that flags denoting upcoming map changes have been placed in the area north of Hydro Dam. These flags were previously used in Apex Legends to mark where the map would change for a Town Takeover.

Only one Town Takeover has been previously done in Apex Legends, the Octane Town Takeover made during the Iron Crown event. The section of the map marked off by the construction flags changed dramatically. The area was built into a sort of Octane-themed obstacle course, themed after the Legend's style and abilities. Respawn was quoted at the time as saying, "We're always looking for new ways to weave Legend personalities into the map, and this change will remain part of Kings Canyon even after the event ends."

Players already expect the new flags to mean a second Town Takeover will start with Season 3, kicking off a round of wild speculation. The most popular theory is tied into another recent leak, which made clear Respawn planned to celebrate Halloween in Apex Legends. What better way to celebrate Halloween than a Town Takeover based on the spooky Legend Wraith?

The thought process is apparently that Wraith's lore hints at secret research facilities buried beneath King's Canyon. These facilities are said to be heavily guarded, as well. Signs that have appeared around the new Town Takeover area have implied that the area heavily "secured." As such, it makes sense that this Town Takeover area will be one of Wraith's research facilities. At this time, though, there's no actual in-game evidence to lend credence to this theory.

What is reliable is that Apex Legends Season 3 is quickly approaching. It's all but certain to have a new Town Takeover, based on the flags that have appeared in King's Canyon. And it's also all but certain that Apex Legends will be having a Halloween event. There's a lot to be excited about in Apex Legends, whether or not Wraith's research lab or horrors turns out to be true.

Apex Legends is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
