Revenant is the newest character added to Apex Legends, and he has some really interesting mechanics that are truly unlike anything seen in Apex before. He fills a very original role in Apex, and each of his three abilities brings an entirely new element that makes him some kind of weird amalgam. He can simultaneously deny enemies from executing their plan of attack, pull off a flank that few other Legends are capable of, and support his team in a truly meaningful way, all at the same time.

Let's take a look at some tips for using Revenant, and theorize some interesting lineups to include him in:

10 VERTICAL POSSIBILITY

Revenant's passive ability allows him to climb measurably higher on a vertical surface that any other character in the game. While that may not seem exceptionally important, it is by no means useless. Other Legends, like Pathfinder and Octane, need to use either an active ability or ultimate ability to achieve the same thing, and both of those make quite a racket when used, warning the enemy team of what's coming.

Revenant can do this at any point, and it doesn't have a particularly unique sound, allowing him to gain these vertical angles with much less effort and much less warning given to the other team.

9 HIDDEN TOTEM

Revenant's ultimate ability revives teammates from death at whatever location the totem was placed. Most teams are going to place these totems in a place that is pretty tough for an enemy to find, or at least a place that's difficult for an enemy to get an angle on.

This allows teammates that get revived to get their bearings and prepare to go back into the fray instead of just being instantly re-downed.

8 BLATANT TOTEM

Another school of thought with this totem involves no one on the team making use of it. Revenant places the totem in a pretty easy-to-spot location that will draw the eye of the enemy. Most teams are going to keep at least one person keeping an eye on the totem instead of focusing fully on the fight.

Your team can use this to their advantage and stay aggressive, allowing the totem to distract the enemy while your full focus is on the fight.

7 ABILITY DENIAL

Possibly Revenant's most interesting (and most useful) ability is the way he can deny enemies from using any of their own abilities. This can utterly freeze an enemy team, especially right now, while Revenant's still new and people aren't sure how to deal with him.

Without their abilities, enemies aren't going to be playing with nearly the same confidence, and that can make a huge difference in engagements.

6 PRESS THE ADVANTAGE

When you know enemies are unable to use their abilities, press that advantage with aggression.

At the very least, enemies are going to be mentally unprepared for those first couple seconds while their abilities are locked, and if your entire team comes in gun-blazing immediately, the enemies are not going to be putting their best foot forward in the ensuing fight. There's no better time to attack than when your enemies have limited options at their disposal.

5 AGGRESSIVE PLAYSTYLE

Revenant can be used really well in an aggressive playstyle for a multitude of reasons. As just mentioned before, he can limit enemies' options when it comes to fighting, giving you a great ten-second window in which to pounce.

He can also pull off those creative flanks and lines-of-sight that enemies are not going to expect, putting you in a great spot to establish a position of dominance.

4 PASSIVE PLAYSTYLE

Revenant can also be used in a longer-range, more passive playstyle, too. If the entire team is playing longer-range, everybody can afford to take a few more risks when it comes to landing those sniper headshots when they know they've got a well-protected Death Totem hidden around them.

Alternately, Revenant can be used to allow one person on the team to play longer-range while the other two play aggressive. That longer-range player will stick back and keep the totem covered, while the other two can act with severe aggression knowing that if they die, they'll respawn back at the safe totem.

3 GIBRALTAR, WATTSON/CAUSTIC, REVENANT

Revenant can be a part of some really interesting team compositions, as well. Bringing a Gibraltar and either a Caustic or a Wattson allows Revenant to have a safe place to place the Death Totem in Gibraltar's Dome Shield, while Wattson can line the inside of the dome with her electric fence, or Caustic can toss a couple of Gas Canisters inside.

This should cover any teammate that respawns at the totem long enough to get their bearings and prepare to get back into the fight.

2 WATTSON, CAUSTIC, REVENANT

A small deviation of the last team, you can cut out Gibraltar and simply lay enough fence and Gas Canisters to make getting to that Death Totem a near-impossibility.

This can be played in either an aggressive or more passive style, as well, allowing a team to feel out a situation and play it how they feel is going to be the best. In a well-coordinated team, this lineup can be really effective.

1 WRAITH/PATHFINDER, OCTANE, REVENANT

If you're looking for a no-holds-barred, ultra-aggressive approach, look no further than Octane, Revenant, and either a Wraith or Pathfinder. All of these characters excel in an aggressive playstyle, with Octane able to close the gap quickly with either himself or with his entire team.

Pathfinder is able to get wherever he wants in mere seconds, and Wraith is able to get the entire team to a new location with a little effort. This lineup is likely going to be pressing any team they come across and get there with enough speed that the enemy isn't going to have much time to prepare.
