Apex Legends announced it is releasing the next chapter in its Stories From the Outlands series. The "Good as Gold" cinematic will premiere tomorrow, January 18, at 8 am PT. While there are minimal clues as to what will be the focus of this Apex Legends story, many players believe new details surrounding a recently leaked Legend are on the horizon.

In order to expand upon the lore of Apex Legends, developer Respawn began a short film series titled Stories from the Outlands, which features narratives focusing on the game’s Legends. According to fans, tomorrow’s story is going to offer insight into the highly-anticipated arrival of the explosive Legend, Fuse.

After the news of the cinematic’s debut hit, players immediately began speculating that Fuse was about to get his time in the spotlight. Dataminer SomeoneWhoLeaks recently leaked what they claim to be Fuse’s Ultimate ability, formerly called Firebomb. According to the dataminer’s clip, the ability drops a bomb that deals 70 damage upon exploding and leaves a ring of fire in the detonation area that deals as much as 60 additional damage over time.

SomeoneWhoLeaks also predicted Apex Legend’s in-game teaser, which dropped yesterday as King’s Canyon returned to the map rotation. In-game teasers are common before a character’s official arrival in Apex Legends, including Horizon’s grav lift challenge and Octane’s jump pads being added to maps. The billboards around King’s Canyon feature a message indicating Salvo is joining Syndicate, the group responsible for the Apex Games.

According to Apex Legends lore, Salvo is a planet in the Outlands that had previously remained independent from the Syndicate. While the chances of Salvo being added as a map so soon after Olympus’ release are minimal, this only provides additional evidence of Fuse’s official reveal. After all, an explosives expert named Fuse does suggest he would be linked to a planet called Salvo.

Fuse could also just be another red herring set by Respawn in order to distract fans from a surprise reveal. Apex Legends shocked fans in Season 4 after heavily teasing the release of Forge, only to have the character murdered in his own Stories From the Outlands trailer by Season 4’s final Legend, Revenant.

All of these rumors are likely to be confirmed, or denied, during the Stories From the Outlands: Good as Gold premiere. Be sure to stay tuned to Apex Legend’s social media accounts tomorrow, January 18, at 8 am PT to watch the mystery unfold.

Apex Legends is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with a Switch version also in development.
