Apex Legends Mobile is getting a new game mode dedicated to solo players, EA recently confirmed. While Apex Legends Mobile shares many similarities to its PC/console counterpart, it still proves to be a very different game with a lot of obvious and obscure changes. Now, players can add a solo battle royale mode to the list of distinguishing features that Apex Legends Mobile doesn't borrow from the base game.

Released three years after the original Apex Legends, Apex Legends Mobile is a standalone game developed specifically for Android and iOS devices in collaboration with Tencent's subsidiary, Lightspeed and Quantum Studios. In adapting Respawn's successful battle royale formula to mobile platforms, the China-based studio had to make a handful of changes in Apex Legends Mobile. Apparently, that same thinking is still upheld even after the game is fully released, as now Apex Legends Mobile is getting a new game mode that is nowhere to be found in the original game.

In a blog post explaining all the changes coming to the Aftershow update for Apex Legends Mobile, EA lists solo battle royale as a new game mode being included in the game. While there is no mention of it being a permanent addition to the game, the full patch notes also don't label the new solo mode as a limited-time-only playlist. There is also not a single hint or indication that the feature will be brought over to the PC and console versions of Apex Legends, although some players might still consider it a possibility.

Unlike other staple battle royale titles such as Fortnite or PUBG, Apex Legends distinguishes itself as a game that heavily focuses on team play, especially in groups of three or two. Synergizing different character abilities is also key to achieving victory in Apex Legends, which is why a lot of the characters' ultimate abilities are centered around team play. Simply put, this kind of setup wouldn't work really well in a solo-based game mode, as many of the characters in Apex Legends would be deemed incompetent in a 1v1 scenario.

Apex Legends Mobile, on the other hand, is brave enough to take the risk since it offers different gameplay mechanics in regard to the character's abilities. Apex Legends Mobile also has fewer characters than its PC/console counterpart, meaning that adjusting some of them for a more balanced solo mode would likely be easier to do for the developers. Solo mode has been one of the most requested features in Apex Legends, and now at least players can get to experience it in the mobile version of the game.

Apex Legends Mobile is now available on Android and iOS devices.
