Update: Respawn has fixed the issue regarding perceived account resets in Apex Legends. According to an official statement, with patch 1.1 some players were "unintentionally moved to the wrong servers" and thus it appeared that their progression had been reset and lost. Respawn quickly took the servers down and has since issued a fix restoring players to their correct servers and making sure that the bug won't happen again. In addition, any currency bought and/or spent during the bug will be restored in full to players accounts.

In conclusion, players' progress was never at risk. Apex Legends was just pushing those accounts towards the wrong server, which didn't have record of account progress. Respawn has since begun rolling out the right servers starting with Xbox and with PS4 and PC to follow. If those servers are not yet available for players, they should be in a matter of time.

Original Article: Respawn has issued Apex Legends patch 1.1, and it has not been a smooth launch. Respawn has since pulled Apex Legends servers down as patch 1.1 included with it a bug that has reset many user accounts to level 1, including removing their acquired items and purchases. Respawn is currently investigating the cause of the bug and has issued an official warning: "Until we have the issue resolved we recommend you do not buy or craft anything."

The exact nature of the bug appears to be unknown, though it has been directly tied to the 1.1 update. Apex Legends players who did not download the update managed to continue playing without any notable changes to their account up until Respawn took the servers down. As such, some players are recommending avoiding the update if possible.

Respawn's warning comes likely due to a potential roll-back to a back-up server state prior to when the hit. There's a chance the Apex Legends update changed the way player accounts interacted with account databases, meaning it's a communication issue between the client and server and can be patched relatively easy. The more dire problem would be if the patch led to player accounts being erased in the database. That's why a roll-back of the servers may be necessary.

In the meantime, Respawn continues to evaluate the issue and hasn't confirmed an ETA for a fix. The last official comment was released at 10:40 am PT, so while another comment should be posted soon, this issue clearly requires more than just a quick fix.

Beyond the bug, patch 1.1 for Apex Legends is an otherwise innocuous update focused mainly on quality of life issues and bug fixes. For example, players are now given the option to party up with the last squad that was played with. Squad invites can be opted out from the main menu.

Also, mute can now be enabled for the intro and Legend selection screens. In terms of gameplay, the only big change is that the Void ability for Apex Legends' Wraith now prevents her from interacting with Jump Pads, much like how she can't interact with doors or ziplines.
