Launching at the beginning of November, Season 11 of Apex Legends is already roughly halfway over. With new additions such as the Legend Ash and CAR SMG, players have enjoyed many aspects of this latest season of the battle royale. However, it is not without flaws, as a number of bugs have been discovered over the last couple of months. Among the more recent issues found by Apex Legends players is a glitch affecting the Sentinel.

As part of the Sniper category, the Sentinel is a powerful bolt-action sniper effective at long ranges. The gun was introduced to the game in February of 2020, and since then, it has undergone improvements making it more viable in battle. Notably, Respawn Entertainment added the Amped mechanic that allows players to charge the weapon with 2 shield cells. While this mechanic increases the damage output of the weapon significantly, players have discovered a bug impacting its charge time.

In a post on Reddit, a user known as dj_b2 shared a recent clip from a game of Apex Legends. In the video, they revealed that the Sentinel charge rate was bugged. According to the Reddit user, the time needed to charge the sniper took longer than the 5-second timer displayed in the bottom right corner of the screen. It took roughly 0.5-1 second longer than it was supposed to based on the footage from dj_b2.

This bug is doubtlessly frustrating to players, as it provides contradictory information to those using the sniper. This is made worse considering that scoping in or firing a shot cancels the charge, even after the charge meter appears to have been completely filled. This was illustrated in the video clip provided by dj_b2 after taking what they thought was an amped shot at an enemy. Despite having the charge meter filled, the shot registered as a regular hit instead of an amped one.

This post from dj_b2 caught the attention of many members of the Apex Legends community on Reddit. With over 6,700 upvotes in less than a day, many commented that they had encountered the bug as well. “I really thought I was just an idiot. Glad I’m not going crazy here,” one relieved player shared. In addition to the Sentinel, others claimed that the same issues were taking place when charging a Rampage LMG with a thermite grenade.

Respawn Entertainment has yet to address this issue. However, given the number of fans talking about the problem, it seems only a matter of time before the developers look into the situation. Hopefully, a fix for the bug can be implemented soon so players can get back to sniping with the Sentinel.

Apex Legends is available now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
