The latest event for Apex Legends has arrived and as fans saw in the recent trailer, there's plenty more loot to hunt. Chaos Theory seems to focus on characters like Caustic and Bangalore, as the latter finally gets her Heirloom while the former has his own new Town Takeover. Alongside the new content, the Nintendo Switch version of Apex Legends is finally available, adding a whole new platform of players to the already robust population. The two characters were also a major focus in the accompanying update as well.

While two very different characters, the defining trait for both Caustic and Bangalore is that they're characters who utilize smoke to mess with their enemies. While Caustic's gas adds a damaging toxicity to his, both impact the vision of other players, making them tough to deal with under certain circumstances. Apparently, Respawn felt these abilities were perhaps too good and made a secret change to the smoke effects that players have slowly started to discover.

After logging in following the Chaos Theory update, fans began noticing that the particle effects on the gas seemed a bit thinner and less dense. Naturally, this reduces the effectiveness of their ability to impact enemy visibility. Players began thinking this was a bug added to Apex Legends with the new update, especially since the change wasn't reported by Respawn Entertainment in the patch notes.

However, this change was indeed intentional as Respawn developer Eric Hewitt confirmed the new behaviors in response to a fan on Twitter. The developers reduced the particle effects for Caustics tactical and ultimate moves, Bangalore's smoke, as well as the ultimate ability of Gibraltar. While players seem to enjoy the typically strong Caustic getting knocked down a peg based on the comments, others are a bit disappointed that Bangalore was included in this and that the change overall wasn't reported. Hewitt did mention that it was left off unintentionally and reported to the correct individual.

Caustic's Town Takeover event takes place at the Water Treatment plant on the Kings Canyon map where players become test subjects in a deadly experiment to drain toxic liquid while gaining temporary access to four gold loot items locked in cages. The Ring Fury LTM is also available, adding smaller and slowly expanding rings causing damage to players caught within them. In addition, the update has a whole new loot stream including the previously mentioned heirloom item for Bangalore. What surprised many players with this update was a set of nerfs that were seemingly left off of the patch notes.

Apex Legends is available now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
