Apex Legends’ Season 9 update will be releasing in just a few days, bringing with it a lot of balance changes for existing legends. While players will have to wait until they download the update to see most of the changes in action, Loba fans are in luck as a new video just released showing off improvements to her abilities.

Loba has seen a lot of revisions since her introduction in Season 5, as her relevance within the meta has struggled. Her Ultimate has received multiple buffs from developer Respawn Entertainment, but fans pointed to her Tactical as what needed work. Many feel her reduced mobility while using her Tactical makes her too easy of a target, and making matters worse, Loba’s Tactical often fails for reasons that aren’t always clear.

All of these issues are aiming to be fixed when Season 9 releases. Respawn confirmed last month that Loba’s Tactical will no longer fail as often, and her movement speed will no longer be hampered while using it. While those changes sound exciting on paper, Loba fans can see them in action with a new comparison video by Coffee ASAP on YouTube.

The video shows that after Loba throws her Tactical in Season 9 of Apex Legends, she will be able to sprint at full speed, jump, and slide without any slowdown. Loba will also have that same full movement after teleporting while she puts her bracelet back on, an animation which looks to take the same amount of time as it did before. Perhaps more importantly, the bracelet seems to land without fail every time, meaning Loba players will no longer be caught in compromised positions.

The comparison video shows what a massive improvement the Season 9 update will be for Loba. To balance out these improvements, Loba’s Ultimate will now take 120 seconds to recharge instead of 90. While some might be saddened by that nerf, the general consensus seems to be that Loba was able to use her Ultimate too often, especially when combined with the 50 percent Ultimate charge Loba starts with every match.

It will be interesting to see how Loba performs, especially in the new meta of the Arenas mode that is also coming with Season 9. Items like Med Kits, Shield Batteries, and Phoenix Kits will be costly to purchase in that mode, and players will often have to choose between those items and things like weapons and upgrades. Since those items will also appear in limited quantities in the arena, Loba has the potential to really make a difference for her team by stealing those items with her Black Market Ultimate.

Apex Legends is available now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One. Season 9 will come to all platforms on May 4, 2021.
