Apex Legends Season 9 released today, adding the new 3 vs. 3 Arena mode, a new Bocek Bow weapon, the new legend Valkyrie, and more. Unfortunately, the servers have crashed due to high demand, preventing players from jumping into Season 9's new content. The servers have been down for a little over three hours, with Respawn developers sharing updates on server fixes.

Respawn has indicated that some players have been able to get into matches, however, the server issues are still occurring for many others. Respawn also just shared that all platforms are recovering, but marketplace issues are persisting. Players are also sharing clips of their Apex Legends main screen with various problems such as not being able to log in, having zero apex coins and materials, or even unable to access the legends screen to purchase the new legend Valkyrie.

Respawn has made progress on the server issues. However, most players are reporting that they are queued up for the firing range and unable to play the new Arenas mode. Players are also reporting that all legends are locked except for the original six. While it seems Respawn is fixing the server issues, there may be more bugs present in the Season 9 update.

Respawn stated that it will keep fighting until Apex Legends is back at 100%. When players are able to jump into Season 9, there will be plenty of new content to explore. If the currency issue that some players are reporting is resolved, players will be able to purchase the new legend Valkyrie for 12,000 Legend Tokens or 750 Apex Coins.

Valkyrie adds a bit more Titanfall 2 lore to Apex Legends. As the daughter of Titanfall 2 antagonist Viper, Valkyrie has utilized parts of the Northstar Titan to use her abilities. Valkyrie's tactical ability fires a slew of missiles in an area that does damage and disorients enemies, and her ultimate ability can shoot her and her team up into the sky to dive back down.

The server issues caused by high demand is most likely due to the permanent Arenas game mode in Season 9. Arenas mode will be a totally new way to play Apex Legends, featuring loadout stores between rounds, no respawning, and new small maps. The Arenas mode loadout store will change gameplay drastically, as players will have to purchase weapons, abilities, and consumable between rounds using materials earned from previous rounds.

The new season also has impressive Rampart and Wraith skins, along with legendary Spitfire skins in the Battle Pass. Since Respawn is making progress on the server issues, players should be able to jump into the action shortly to make progress on the Battle Pass and try out the new game mode.

Apex Legends is available now for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch.
