Season 5 of Apex Legends is here, and with it comes a bevy of new content and changes. One change has altered one of the fan-favorite guns within Apex Legends that players are going to have to get used to.

The Peacekeeper shotgun has long been considered a top-tier weapon in Apex Legends. The gun has always been able to blast away enemies with effectiveness and is often selected as one of the two guns in a player's arsenal in the battle royale. However, in Season 5: Fortune's Favor, players are not going to see the Peacekeeper very often anymore, as Respawn has changed the gun drastically.

The Peacekeeper used to be a regular weapon found in crates and on the floor. Now it is being changed to a care package weapon, and it is being powered up accordingly. Care packages fall from the sky throughout matches in Apex Legends, and the guns inside are much more powerful than standard weapons. So the fact that the Peacekeeper is becoming a care package gun means that it is getting a huge boost in power. Respawn also confirmed that there is no new weapon in Season 5, so it may be using the Peacekeeper buff as the stand-in for a new gun.

The buff that Respawn is giving to the Peacekeeper will make it so that the shotgun has a tighter spread, has a quicker rechamber (from 1.2 seconds to 0.9 seconds), quicker reload times, and larger projectile sizes to make shots from closer ranges easier to hit. The Peacekeeper isn't the only thing that Respawn is updating, as Mirage is finally getting a buff, the Legend that probably needed buffing the most since day one.

The Mastiff shotgun and Peacekeeper are basically swapping. The Mastiff used to be found in care packages. But now that gun is found in crates and on the floor. The Mastiff is getting a bit of a nerf, as it used to be an all-powerful weapon. This same principle is something that Respawn did with the L-Star in Season 4, as the gun was once a care package gun and is now a regular weapon. The Mastiff will hold 6 shells instead of 4, however, but the fire rate is being slowed, it is less powerful, and the headshot multiplier is lessened, among other things.

There is a lot in store for Season 5 of Apex Legends. Respawn has stated that it wants to alter the META (most effective tactics available) each season, and it looks like it's done that again with adding Loba, the newest Legend, changing Kings Canyon, and altering the weapons. Now it is up to the players to drop in and see who comes out on top.

Apex Legends is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
