Season 5 of Apex Legends is fastly approaching. With the timer that is set in place for the Season 4 battle pass and the ranked split of that is currently live which Respawn communicated, the best guess for when Season 5 will begin is March 5, 2020. A fresh season means many things for fans of the fast-paced battle royale; a new weapon, overhaul to some of the meta of the game, changes to the map play, but most importantly perhaps--a brand new Legend.

Many have assumed that the newest star to be added to Apex Legends will be Loba, though Respawn has not formally revealed the character yet. However, between official trailers, datamining, and some good old speculation, there is a lot to unfold about this unknown and possible future playable Legend.

She is Out to Get Revenge

The first time many caught wind of Loba was with the Season 4 Launch trailer which revealed Revenant. In this emotional animation, fans get to see that the Mercenary Syndicate and Hammond Robotics hired Revenant as an assassin, but when he was a human. At some point, things went horribly wrong and over time Revenant became a walking nightmarish robot.

Revenant seeks revenge on Hammond Robotics, and in the Season 4 Launch trailer, he killed Loba's mother and father, leaving her orphaned. In the beginning of the trailer the family can be seen happily enjoying a meal in peace, and Loba is given a wolf figurine that is most likely her namesake (loba means she-wolf in Spanish).  Her life is now in shambles, and by the end of the video, she is seen with a look of absolute disdain towards the person who wrecked her world.

Loba is Known as the Translocating Thief

Now that she has been orphaned, Loba may have been forced to live a life much different than the lavish lifestyle she was going to grow up in. The Season 4 reveal shows Loba and her family in a metropolitan highrise, perhaps in an area like Angle City, which would make for a great future map in Apex Legends. But now with her family gone, her lifestyles seems to have changed. It's also possible that she lives a thieves life even as someone living in wealth, as her father was obviously living a dangerous life as well.

The datamining community behind Apex Legends knew about Loba and her thieving ways well before this season. In August of 2019, fans were able to datamine details of over 10 Legends that could end up in Apex LegendsThe findings were correct about Revenant and Crypto. Loba was a part of the information as well.

Loba Will Most Likely Be the Second Support Character in Apex Legends

Lifeline is one of the pivotal members of a team in Apex Legends. She is designated as a support character, and although the game now has 12 Legends, Lifeline is the only one designated as a support Legend. This may not be the case for long. Datamining has revealed Loba's abilities and she should be able to help her team in interesting ways.

As a thief she will be able to reveal loot through walls and steal nearby loot. In hot drops and tricky situations, being able to see loot in another building and snag it would be an amazingly useful ability. Players who use Loba will also apparently be able to throw a disc and teleport to that location. Her abilities are designed to get in and out of difficult situations all while snagging the loot that teammates and Loba herself need. If these abilities are true, it will be interesting to see where Loba ranks among the Apex Legends characters.

It's very important to note that much of this should be taken with a large grain of salt. While some of the datamining in the past has proven to be true, and Loba has appeared in legitimate trailers as a child, nothing is official until Season 5 begins. Respawn also likes to play fun games with fans, as last time around it revealed "Forge" as the next character in the game, only to have Revenant murder Forge on live TV to get back at Hammond Robotics.

Apex Legends is free-to-play on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
