E3 2019 is in full swing and EA is first up on the long list of press conferences scheduled for the next week. During the EA Play presentation, Respawn announced several new features and elements coming to Apex Legends in the coming weeks. One of the biggest new announcements is the start date for Season 2, which is coming pretty soon.

Season 2's theme is Battle Charge and launches with a new Battle Pass on July 2. Season 2's Battle Pass will feature a revamped leveling system that focuses more on challenges rather than time investment, which will allow players to get to rank 100 faster than in Season 1. Alongside Season 2, Apex Legends will receive a new hero and a new weapon to play with. Also during the presentation, Respawn teased that there would be some new map changes coming to the game during Season 2.

The developers showed off a few of the legendaries coming with the Battle Pass including new legendary skins for Caustic and Octane, as well as a skin for the Spitfire and an evolving skin for the R-301. Respawn also showed off some gameplay for the new Apex Lengeds hero Wattson. Wattson has been rumored to come to the game for some time due to a leak earlier this year. Respawn also showed off a new weapon coming in Season 2, the L-Star, a fan-favorite weapon returning from Titanfall. The weapon will be exclusive to care package drops like the Kraber and Mastiff, and will be able to destroy doors from a distance.

It's clear that Respawn is taking a lot the feedback from Season 1 to heart when designing Season 2. The major Apex Legends Battle Pass changes will perhaps be what the game needs to keep fans happy and engaged for the full duration of Season 2, however long that may be. In the mean time, players can still take part in the Legendary Hunt event and earn some exclusive skins and Battle Pass progress. Hopefully Season 2 will feature more limited-time events like the Legendary Hunt to add more variety to the popular Battle Royale.

Apex Legends is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
