The Apex Legends Season 2 start date is right around the corner, which means players are gearing up to take on another Battle Pass for a chance at epic rewards. Season 2's Battle Pass is going to be a lot different from Season 1, much to the delight of many fans. This time around, the Battle Pass will not be solely based on time investment, but will instead focus on challenges to allow players to quickly level up and earn these new rewards. In a blog post today, Respawn detailed how these challenges are going to work so players know what to expect when jumping headfirst into Season 2.

Season 2's Battle Pass is revolving around challenges, divided up into Daily and Weekly Challenges. Every day, players will receive three Daily Challenges to take on, pulled randomly from a pool of over 200 different challenges. These can range from simple challenges like playing a game as a specific Legend to dealing a specific amount of damage at a location on the map. Completing these challenges will net 3,000 STARS, a new way to measure Battle Pass progress. STARS are specific to Battle Pass XP and will not impact account level. These will be pretty easy to earn as players explore the destroyed King's Canyon map in Season 2.

There are also seven Weekly Challenges in Apex Legends which should take several matches to complete. These can be things like "Get 20 Kills as Gibraltar, Bangalore, and Mirage" or "Loot 100 Epic Items" so they will take more time to complete unless players are really lucky. Four of the Weekly Challenges are worth 6,000 STARS each, while the other three grant an entire Battle Pass level each upon completion. If players jump into the season late, they will have access to all previous Weekly Challenges so they can catch up quickly.

Three Weekly Challenges will be the same and reset every week: Complete Five Daily Challenges, Complete 10 Daily Challenges, and Earn 9,000 STARS and/or match XP. Each of these will reward one Battle Pass level upon completion. The STARS challenge can be completed an unlimited number of times each week, but the number of STARS will increase by 9,000 for every completion to a maximum of 54,000 STARS. These will be key to maximizing Battle Pass gains to get the new exclusive Season 2 loot.

Players will have plenty to do every day in Apex Legends with this new Battle Pass structure. Season 2 is adding a ton of content, like the new Apex Legends character Wattson, and perhaps a new Legend later in the season that was teased in the Season 2 launch trailer. Hopefully this new Battle Pass model will keep players engaged throughout the season, but that shouldn't be hard considering the amount of new things Respawn is adding to chase after. From Ranked Matches to new skydive emotes, Season 2 is certainly shaping up to fix many of the problems players had with Season 1.

Apex Legends is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
