As one of the biggest battle royale games on the market, Apex Legends has enjoyed success over 12 seasons. The last season, Apex Legends: Defiance, introduced a warlord rebel, the offensive character Mad Maggie, who is a lifelong friend of Fuse. This season, Apex Legends: Saviors, introduces Bangalore’s presumed-dead brother, Newcastle, as the next legend, arriving May 10.

Jackson, which is the real name of Newcastle, was long considered dead, defining Bangalore’s personality throughout the games. In the trailer, Bangalore makes an ultimate decision to leave the Apex Legends games; with her sibling believed dead, no motivation drove her. As the legends enjoy their time on the ship before the match begins, Loba approaches Bangalore in an attempt to convince her otherwise. However, it seems Bangalore is determined, believing this is her last match.

Newcastle was recently teased, which is why his reveal was relatively less surprising. And the assumptions about his abilities are confirmed in this trailer. As the legends drop down for a match, Newcastle deploys his tactical ability - a movable shield. This shield could remind some players of Reinhardt’s ability from Overwatch. Newcastle’s ultimate ability is revealed to be a summonable defensive surrounding, protecting the squad from the incoming attacks. While both his tactical and ultimate abilities deflect incoming attacks, only the ultimate can be destroyed, while the tactical disappears after a short while, similar to Lifeline’s.

Apex Legends Season 12 featured powerful weapons, and this season teases a return of fan-favorite hop-up, further improving the available arsenal. The hop-up for Havoc Rifle and Prowler Burst has different effects on both of the weapons. While for Prowler Burst it removes a bursting mechanism, allowing players to shoot bullets without a halt, this hop-up gives Havoc Rifle a powerful one-shot bullet. This should be confirmed with the following trailer for Apex Legends: Saviors, arriving on April 28.

The end of the video introduces a large PVE beast in the Storm Point map, similar to the already-existent prowlers. It is unsure if the beast is featured in the trailer for cinematic purposes alone or if it will be incorporated into the gameplay somehow. In any case, Newcastle could quickly become a main to many players due to his effective defensive abilities, but that remains to be seen.

Apex Legends is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
